charging 2 year olds as adults.

Posted Fri July 13, 2012 11:01 am, by kay s. written to AMC theaters

How is it that every theater and amusement park doesn't charge until the age of 3. I had to pay full adult price for my barely 2 year old along with myself and other children. Really????? That is truly unnecessary.

You need to be competitive with the other theaters and fix this. You have it written no where in the theater or paperwork to back this price. Truly pathetic and I will tell everyone. Tons of choices here in Va beach and this is the LEAST safe of the choices.

Please do the movie-going public a favor and do NOT bring your 2 year
old to the movies. No matter the movie, no child that you can sit
quietly through a feature-length film.

I really don't think any kids under a certain age should be allowed in
the movie theater there loud and disruptive they don't even watch the
movie and will constantly and loudly ask questions during the movie.
The same reason many people don't bring their kids to restaurants
before a certain age it's not cute, and I would say it's about as bad
as somone smoking in a restaurant.

you'd like one of the steak restaurants here then. no kids under 12 allowed by PepperElf Wed July 18, 2012 @ 5:03 PM

Not only do two year olds take up space but isn't he or she watching
the movie? Or is he or she jabbering and whining. ...and why would
you take your child to the least safe theater.hmmm

The child takes up as much space (1 seat) as an adult. Why shouldn't
the child have to pay the same price?

you saw with the children might have made a difference.

What was the movie rated?

perhaps you should go there then?

I mean hell you're talking about VA Beach.

If you're at Pembrook mall the other theatre is just a 5-10 minutes
away - on foot. Or there's Lynne Haven.

Or if you REALLY want a discount, there's that dinner-place on
Independence Blvd that charges really dirt-cheap prices. The tradeoff
is that the movies are always old. But hey cheap is cheap right?

So if the other theaters give you the prices you want, why does this
one have to?

kinda like those "price match" requests. if the "other store charges
less" why not go to the other store?

Why shouldn't she pay? She's watching the movie. And "other
theatres?" Other theatres most definitely will charge your 2yo for a
movie.

Depends on the theatre - AMC for example now bans children under 6 from R rated movies by PepperElf Mon July 16, 2012 @ 5:44 PM

by McJohn Posted Fri July 13, 2012 @ 1:42 PM

Did your child sit on your lap or in her own seat? Did she watch the
movie?

If she did I dont see why age makes a difference. They are taking up
a seat, and watching the same movie as everyone else.

Personally I think I should get a discount everytime I sit in a
theater with kids.

Kay S

Did you ask to speak to a manager after being told that you would have
to pay the adult price for everyone, including the children?

If you go to their website at...

http://www.amctheatres.com/

you can check out the ticket price for a child for each movie,
depending on what time you want to go.
