Pain from Long Line at American Airlines Required Baggage Check

I had booked an e-ticket with a departure from Las Vegas at 7:10 a.m. When I arrived at the airport the line took up all available space and then some. I tried to use the self-service check in but it did not allow it. I found out my flight was delayed from a fellow passenger. I called the AA phone customer service and discovered I had been rebooked on US Air. Meanwhile, it took an hour and a half to reach the accommodations desk because only one person was rebooking everyone in line. In that time I suffered extreme foot and back pain from waiting so long in line. I had to wait because it was the only way to get my voucher for US Air. Originally I was going to carry on my small suitcase. However, with all the pain I was in, I decided to check the bag. This is after having to stand in line to check in at US Air also. American Airlines claimed they could not transfer my bag so I had to lug it over to US Air to check it. The fellow passenger told me American was giving passengers on the original delayed flight free baggage check. So I thought I could get my $15 given to US Air for baggage check from AA after the fact. It appears from other posting on this site that the offer of free bag check is common with delayed AA flights. Well, I wrote CS on AA.com about this and they weaseled out by saying that once I was rebooked on another airline that other airline's policies apply. They did not even address the pain I endured, due to their inefficient accommodations process.

I think American Airlines would be well advised to pay me the $15 I spent on baggage check. Maybe they would like me to sue them for pain and suffering instead?

Explain, if you will...how its AA's fault that you suffered back/foot
pain while standing?

You want to sue them for standing in a long line? That is absolutely
ridiculous. 1.5 hours is a long time, but at least you got on another
flight successfully. They didn't just throw you out on your own.

If I understand correctly, I think they should have given you a credit
for the US Airways checked baggage fee. I appreciate that US Airway's
policies prevail if that's the airline you've actually flow, but you
were AA's customer and they need to take care of you.

I've been rebooked on different airlines many times. Often, the
original airline is willing to give me frequent flier miles, even
though I was no longer on their airline. As well, the new airline
also gave me miles.

While airlines are (for good reason) cutting back on stuff like this,
arranging for a waived $15 baggage fee seems reasonable.

I'm not sure that it's productive to threaten to sue them, unless you
actually plan to do so. As you know, it'll cost more than $15 to even
file the suit, much less to actually go to trial. And, just a guess,
but they'll likely argue that you never notified them of a disability
or a medical need. They'll claim that, had you only notified them
that you were in pain and needed special accommodation, they would
have done so. Making people wait in line is not, in-and-of-itself,
something I can see for a successful lawsuit. If you notified them of
a disability and they refused to accommodate you, THAT I can see
working well in trial (or settlement, since airlines don't
particularly want it publicized that they denied a disabled customer a
basic accommodation such as a wheelchair or the use of a skycap).

Of course they didn't address your pain and suffering. They are
waiting for you to try to sue them. Good luck with that.

I might sue my wife for making me follow her around the mall as she
shops. Meanwhile, you don't mention why the flight was delayed then
ultimately cancelled.
