You received the cards what, 8 or 9 months ago, depending on what day you got them.
Why is the company responsible for the fact that you lost them?
I mean why should they take a loss for something that was clearly not their doing?

rewards cards are the equivalent of coupons and are not covered under any of the gift card laws, since they were not purchased. at least that is how I understand it.

I would have had them spent them day I got them. Either gas or groceries or dinner out.

It's your own fault for not keeping track of them and using them in a timely manner. Your failure to be organized is on you.

You might have a chat with your wife about these cards. After all, they were HER Christmas bonus.
7 months is not "an unusually short expiration time". It doesn't take much for a recipient to look at the cards and determine all of the terms. Like expiration dates, cash withdrawal possibilities, how to use if the purchase price is more than card value.......

They expired after only seven months?
Seven months is not enough time to figure out how to spend $75. I might not even spend $75 in a seven month period.
I don't know about anyone else, but I always check the details of everything like a gift card. I would have planned where to spend the gift cards in the first few days after having had received them.
