American Express makes money even if you do leave home without it. The company is one of the world's largest travel agencies, but it is equally as well known for its charge cards and revolving credit cards. And yes, the company still issues traveler's checks and publishes such magazines as Food & Wine and Travel & Leisure through its American Express Publishing unit, while its travel agency operations have more than 2,200 locations worldwide and its Travelers Cheque Group is the world's largest issuer of traveler's checks (it also issues gift cards). But the company's charge and credit cards are its bread and butter, and they've diversified along with the rest of the firm. |

American Express sent me an offer for a Delta SkyMiles credit card. I accepted the offer, but American Express did not keep up its end of the deal. My application was accepted, but my card was never shipped, nor was notification of any kind. I found out I had an American Express credit card 8 months later when I checked in for a Delta flight; my boarding pass said I had a SkyMiles AmEx. I was...

On 7-19-2012 I made an agreement with AMEX to make a one time settlement offer on a charged off card. They agreed to take $15K+ on a $30K=+ balance. They agreed on a recorded call and in writing to make the balance zero and settled in full. They stated we would get a 1099-C from the IRS for the other $15K balance. Now they are refusing to change the balance to zero and mark it settled in full but...

It has been 6 months I've been applying for American Express. I do everything every analyst tells me to do. Every time it's the same reason and I've had enough of it. I'm luckily able to say I'm working towards excellent credit, despite the insufficiecies American Express tells me.
I just want to let you know I'm officially done trying with your company and will spread the word...

I have two Amex accounts that I used to pay my last semester of school's tuition due to ineligibility for additional student loans. Remained close to limit for awhile, but never missed a payment. When I finally made a large payment on each line to greatly reduce my total due, Amex lowered this credit limits on both cards. So, my utilization is not as good as I expected otherwise and we are in...
