Continuing poor service in Apple Stores

I went to the Apple Store in Lenox Mall (Atlanta, GA) around 2:45 today to get some more RAM. I just wanted to pick up a memory module. I figured it was mid afternoon, the store shouldn't be too crowded and I would be able to get in and out pretty quickly.
When I got there, there were only two sales people on the floor. They were busy. I ask the guy in the orange shirt at the door who could help me, and he told me I would have to wait in line at the genius bar because they only had one cashier today.
Cashier? OK.. But the problem was there was a long line, one that went at least the length of the genius bar. And the poor cashier had to keep going to get what people wanted.
I told the guy I did not want to wait 45 minutes just to buy a memory module. I was going to install it myself after all. But his response was essential "oh well, we only have the one cashier."
So I left without the memory. I'll still buy it. But not from Apple. I'll get an off-brand.
Not only that, but I've never had good service in your stores. No matter what time your genius bar appointment is, they'll see you at least 20 minutes after that time. So when it is time for me to get a new computer. I'll be switching back to PC.
Let's be real, Mac cost a premium. But what do we really get for that? My MacBook Pro is no more reliable than my old PC. A gray screen of death is no real improvement over a blue screen of death. Don't get me wrong, my MacBook Pro is reliable, but so was my PC.
Since you do not really offer a better product you'd think some of the extra cost could go towards better service. But it doesn't.
I've written before to Apple. When I had one of the batteries that almost exploded, I had to make an appointment to get it replaced. I complained because no one could see me until 45 minutes after my appointment time.
So I'm still waiting for an apology for all the inconvenience.
And I want some kind "be seen on time as if we offered good service" card. So the next time I'm forced to go to an Apple store I can be seen and helped in a reasonable amount of time.
