I would like to know why you do not help the disabled. I am on disability and writing this from Pierce College in California. You turned me down when I need help. Surely you could provide a used laptop. I cannot afford one but need one. I make 1200 dollars a month and have 150 at the end please tell me why!
I would like help getting a laptop from apple!

To all that wrote the letter was poorly written I agree. However Why can no one help one another my income is 1200 however my medical bills and prescriptions, and rent take all of the income. I cannot get financing and if I lived in Africa or even Iraq I would be getting assistance. I do not want anything for free. However I want some financial assistance. Is a fair concept?
DC
Ps I am in the computer lab as I am every night and weekend!

I have to agree... the ADA laws do not stipulate "free computers" for unnamed disabilities (or for any). The rules only stipulate that a business must make attempts to make their locations accessable - and Apple stores are very accessable.
There are also programs for college students that offer assistance in computers - even ones you can rent.
But I don't see how this is a "need"... a "want" yes, but not a "need".
And I don't see why Apple should be held responsible for not giving computer hand-outs. It is a business, not a charity. You might want to apply your request for a non-profit organization first...

Why do you "need" a laptop? Is there some special reason why it's not a "want" like it is for everybody else I've ever known (and myself)?
Would a desktop computer work too? Can you access the computer lab(s) on campus? Is there a public library nearby? Do you know somebody who just bought or received a new computer and who is willing to sell you the old one for a good price? (Old/used doesn't necessarily mean used up or worn out. I've purchased some very nice PCs from people who like to buy brand-new stuff every couple of years or so.)
You have 150 bucks left over at the end of the month, or so your letter states. You can save up that money and buy your own toys, as adults are supposed to do.

"I make 1200 dollars a month and have 150 at the end please tell me why!"
Not to sound snarky, but the reason is because you spend $1,050 per month.
It's not up to Apple to determine how or why you spend money.
There are many charities that you might be able to turn to for assistance. Apple, however, is not in the business of giving free machines to every disabled person or to every person on a low income.

You are not entitled to a free computer just because you are disabled. Apparently, you can get to the college so you are not home bound. As a previous poster advised, save money or take out a loan for a computer.
Many people who are disabled manage without begging for freebies. I have a niece who has physical and developmental problems. She cannot even talk but works at McDonald's. Your disability does not give you carte blanc to use the pity card.

Donald, with some creative financial wizardry, anyone with an income of 1200 dollars a month, regardless of disability, should be able to perhaps take some personal responsibility and save enough money or get a credit line or loan through a bank and pay for a computer that way. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are not discriminating against you because of your disability.
Most Institutions of Higher Learning do have "Computer Labs" available to all students, and by law they must follow accessiblity for everyone. I am certain you must have had an inkling you were applying for school and the need would arise for this purchase!

I didn't see this one until I'd already responded to the other one. Not giving you an expensive computer is not the same as not helping disabled people.
