Ipod dissatisfaction

I purchased an ipod after much deliberation in Winter 2004. In addition to this I purchased the warranty protection program to prevent me from having to worry about this product.
Two years later, I have had to replace this item once and called more than once in regards to the Ipod dying on me. Both times this happened through no fault of mine. Thankfully the second time it died I called the service line, because I had the warranty plan. However upon doing this they informed me that the plan expired earlier in the month. (Keep in mind this plan expired only a few days ago.)
I am extremely upset due to the fact that I had originally not wanted an ipod, but I eventually caved in to see what the hype was all about. I've had countless problems and the "warranty" which Ive purchased is of no help to me. When I called the line for service, I was treated like I had deliberately broken this ipod to get it replaced - an idea which is totally false and extremely insulting. Why should I be treated like this, when it is the poor quality and defective hardware on the item itself to blame?
Based on this I would like Apple, as a courtesy, to replace my current non-functioning ipod with a new one, or some similar type of compensation. I really would like to be able to say Apple has great service and I am pleased with them, but based on my experiences to date, this is far from the truth. I hope this situation can be remedied.
Thank you for your time

This is very good letter, and I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with your iPod. I have to agree with the others about the warrenty, after it has expired whether it be 3 days or 3 months it is expired. I don't think you deserve a new one with your current being 2 years old, but hopefully Apple can help you out in some way. Either by you sending it in and then fixing your current iPod (for a charge if it is user damage) or by exchanging ir for a refurbished iPod. Let us know what happens.

(Keep in mind this plan expired only a few days ago.) ... So if the plan is expired - what do you expect them to do ?? If it's three days past expiration should they still honor it?? And if they honor three days past expiration should they honor a few more days past that?? - When does it stop?? - Good luck w/ your complaint.

I fully understand how frustrating and insulting it is when a company tries to blame the customer for a product's failure. I almost threw the Sears repairman out of my house when he insinuated I didn't know how to wash clothes, and that it was my fault that my washing machine still wasn't fixed after six attempts.
In the case of your Ipod, however, if the warranty expired, there's not much you can do about it. While it certainly would be nice if Apple helped you in some way, they really have no obligation to do so.

Good letter. I doubt you'll get what you want (and in my opinion deserve) but I hope you do.
