My Iphone 3GS

I have been using the Apple Iphone since the first generation Iphone was available. In October, 2009 I bought the iphone 3GS to replace my old iphone, which was still in working order. My warranty is outdated as of last month and I am left with an Iphone 3GS that is literally falling apart. Cracks from normal, not excessive, but normal use have developed all over the outer casing of the phone. It has made it so I cannot plug my Iphone into the docking station anymore. I spoke with 3 apple representatives on the phone on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010. I do not have their names because it was very hard to understand them and the greetings were very abrupt. The first person I talked to was helpful but suddenly transferred me without saying a word. The next representative I spoke with was very unhelpful, told me there was no one else but him to talk to and in my opinion sounded very unprofessional. This does not change my opinion about the company seeing that the products and service has been great as long as I’ve been a customer of apple, which is why this experience I had came as a shock. I am aware that my contract has expired but it seems as though my phone has not lasted as long as it should have. It constantly freezes up and I am disappointed that I cannot use my music player/charging dock the same anymore. Apple has always stood behind their products and this is a definite case where I believe Apple should stand behind a product and help a customer who has converted many people to Apple and given apple a very good reputation. I can also provide pictures of the defects of my phone in hopes that a new phone can replace my existing phone. Being only a month after the warranty expires and seeing that this problem has been developing for months now I hope apple can stand behind a product and help out a loyal customer. I would like to be able to continue to tell everyone who has a windows computer how wonderful my experiences with apple have been.
Sincerely,
Jamie C*******

You are given a limited one year manufactures warranty with the phone
that you say you are one month out of. You have cracks on the casing.
That is considered physical damage (irregardless of what else is
wrong) and is not covered under the one year warranty (if it were
still within the one year). If you want another phone you will either
have to buy it or sign another 2 year contract for a discounted price.
How long did you have the phone?

There is a remedy for this. It's called AppleCare. You chose not to
purchase it. You are now out of warranty. End of story.

Could you take the iPhone to an Apple store and have the repair guys
take a look?
