Burned by Apple

I am complaining that I purchased a Macbook Pro last August and not even a year has gone by and I am experiencing severe issue. One major issue I am having is with personal safety of the device. I have owned many Apple computers before and have never dealt with such a lemon of a machine. I am a loyal customer and just want a machine that works like it should.
First, I had to send it in for service a few months ago with problems with the keyboard not typing properly and physically elevating from the rest of the laptop. It seems like nothing was done when returned from service, I just continued to suck it up and use it. Next, the laptop was being used by me on my laptop and severely burned my legs. It became so hot all around and beneath that it scalded my legs. I called service again and they said I should have not used it on my lap. I thought that is crazy. I have never in my life had a laptop reach those temperatures. I was talked to like I was a fool. I should not have been burned in the first place. I was transferred to a safety department and was further talked to like a fool. Arrangements were made to have it look at after I mentioned it was under warranty. The associate claimed I was out of warranty and I argued with him for a few minutes stating I was in warranty. After an unpleasant conversation I finally got through to him and let him know that I needed it fixed so I could use it and not fear getting injured some more. There is no reason that I paid over $2000 dollars for something that has so many issues and I am having nothing but problems with. I consider this machine a lemon.
I personally would like this Macbook Pro Replaced with a new model. I spent alot of money for something to cost me more later in doctors visited to get treatment to heal burns. I have been a loyal customer and am tired of the run around. I feel that is appropriate in this situation. My second option would be a refund so I can buy another machine that has adequate cooling. Hopefully either a new model with the kinks worked out of it or a full refund is appropriate. I won't feel safe with this machine again. I am writing this with the hope Apple will help me before I have to take on formal litigation.

I used to work for an apple reseller. I highly reccomend calling Apple itself and talking to them. If its still within 1 year you have your 1 year apple warranty. Overheating units DO happen, and they ARE covered by warranty. Bring it to another certified dealer or call apple, and good luck!

Ah yes the great superiority of a mac. HA HA HA this is why i have a 1200$ DV6000 HP laptop 10.5.2 OSx2ghz core 2, 2gb ram that will outrun all the macbooks except for the pro model that is like 3500$ based on benchmarks and runs nice and cool. Used to be a big supporter of the mac. Had a g4 for the longest time and was fantastic. got a G5 and wow that was a mistake. I have never had that many problems with a computer ever. sold that and now got mac on a HP which is great and working flawlessly.

this model sounds like a lemon. I was shocked to see all the issues. Things happen, but they really seem to have screwed up with the MBP.
As far as serious burns, the natural question is why you did not remove the notebook from your lap when you felt is was hot.
Apple won't be replacing your machine. It is obvious that they have come up with a serious of disclamers, denials, etc that "Apple Care" reps provides to owners of this model. As someone else pointed out, you can fix the heat problem by tweaking the amount of heat transfer grease if you or a friend is handy.
With all the problems with that product (swelling batteries, LCD pixels going bad, lines in the screen, overheating, case coming apart, fans dying, fan noise, etc, etc etc) maybe you'll have luck with litigation. That should be interesting. Good luck.

It says right in the manual that the computer needs to be on a hard, flat surface while operating and never in your lap. Chalk this up to being uninformed.

This is from appleblog.com
As many of you have seen, heard, or used a Macbook Pro, you know that they run kind of hot. This is partially because of the insane processor speed, and the small size of the casing; even though there are some other mysteries of the heat. But another fact that some of you may or may not know is that Apple purposely underclocks the Macbook Pro so it doesn't over heat as much, but it still gets so warm it can become uncomfortable to sit on a lap. Well over at the Something Aweful forums, a user has pointed out that one of the reasons the Macbook Pro gets so hot is because of a misapplication of thermal grease. Now you can read the full article with pictures, or the instructions to disassemble your Macbook Pro yourself; but it does appear to have taken the temperature from about 55 degrees down to 39 degrees. This may void your warranty, so take extreme caution in attempting to do this, you do not want to destroy a $2500 computer
So apple knows there is a problem and they should fix it.As far as your legs.Did you go to the doctor,if so then you have a lawsuit.
Good Luck
