We ate at Applebee's today, not a very pleasant experience. I got the lunch combo, the portion of the shrimp & spinach salad is ridiclous, a few little pieces of spinach & 3 little shrimp, there could be more spinach on the salad. The onion soup was good, my daughter got the tomato basil soup which tasted like spaghetti sauce in cream & it was sour & cold,& my husband got the broccoli soup which was cold also, & he had a shrimp & spinach salad also, very small. The waitress was not friendly & she was rather rude & there was some sort of air freshner in the front entry, that made the whole restaurant smell like an outhouse, it was a horrible smell.

If I walked into a restaurant and it smelled like an outhouse I would leave.I am not sure why anyone would eat in a restaurant that smells like an outdoor toilet.

So, you walked into a place (using the entrance I suppose) and it smelled like an outhouse. "It was a horrible smell"
And You Stayed?
And You Ordered?
And You Ate?

Why do people complain and leave out the location?!

Maybe when IHOP buys Applebees, they will put waffles on the menu. This will make Applebees stand out from their competitors and perhaps it will make one of the planetfeedback posters happy. :)
PS - I know the original waffle comment was addressed to Chili's but, Applebees and Chili's are similar in my opinion.

Dear diary,
July 16, 2007
I know what an ampersand is now. I can't wait to abuse the hell out of it in some random letter about how a place I ate at smells like poop.

Gee Nancy, it looks like the regular posters here have beaten the you-know-what out of you.
I don't see where you specified the location, but as many suggested, you should have brought your complaints to the onsite management immediately.
I don't see where you have asked for anything free here, which people seem to do a lot. However, it looks from your criticisms that you were critical of pretty much every dish of food. That looks suspect, because in my visits to Applebees the dishes and appetizers have been rather large.
Which brings me to another person's point; it is hard to understand exactly what the purpose of your letter is. It is almost as if you work for a competitor and just want to trash Applebee's. I doubt that is true, but that's how bewildering this letter is.
Now where is that air freshener hiding? This place smells like our old outhouse.

Your quote: there was some sort of air freshner in the front entry, that made the whole restaurant smell like an outhouse, it was a horrible smell.
Wow! I must have missed that scent! New from Febreeze, outhouse scent! For the person who enjoys the smell of bodily waste!

And the point of your letter is WHAT? I really don't even know why you wrote this thing. Are you taking a creative writing class and had to quickly come up with a topic and belt something out in 2 seconds and this was it? And then you thought it was so good that you went ahead and posted it to the site?
New lesson in life. If you want great food, then don't eat at National chain/franchise restaurants (just hear that IHOP is attemping a buy Applebee's, so it will go down hill even further once that happens). There are a ton of great locally owned, one shop owner restaurants all over the place that would love to have your business. They'll actually bend over backwards to make your dining experience wonderful for the same amount of money and sometimes for less money. Give them a try sometime!
Soup is sometimes also cold in these chain restaurants, because if you look around, there are usually over a hundred other folks just like yourself sitting there eating too, and it sits before it's delivered.
Wear a close pin for your nose in all public places. If you think air freshner stinks, try standing over the stall at my gym. Now that's smelly.
Have a better life.

Two quick questions:
1. Why would you sit down in a restaurant that smelled like an outhouse?
2. Why didn't you complain while you were there instead of writing a letter?
