My Mom, sister and I visited your Applebee's restaurant here in Decatur, Illinois on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 for lunch. We ordered 2 French Onion Soup's e-cheese, BLT 1/2 sandwich, corn chowder, ceasar salad, pepsi and a lemonade. The soups were served in a very small white bowl, cear salad was served with a couple leaves of lettuce. We asked the waitress if this was right and she said she didn't know, the manager never came to talk to us... The total price was $26.87. I do not feel this was right for what we were served... No one even felt like they ate... We are not happy...
I would like it if you sent us a free trip back to your restaurant, we really love your place and have never had any problems before. My Mom and sister love your French Onion Soup. The time we were there was 2:30 PM. I hope you can resolve this problem. Thanks so much,

You want a free trip, just because they done something to your disliking? Woman, you are nuts. I bet you want them to pay for your gas, and send your kids to college, also huh? You should have asked a manager and had everything taking care of, but you didn't. So you are entitled to nothing.

Unless I am mistaken, there was a letter here a month or too ago of a similar nature - too small a portion size. Maybe that was another company.
In any event, a salad with a couple of leaves of lettuce? I can't imagine that. And if you asked the waitress if a salad with two leaves of lettuce was right, she sure should have asked someone if she couldn't figure it out herself.
You should have demanded to speak with a manager. There must be one on duty all the time. It is very hard to verify your complaint after the fact. If you had the empty bowls, you could show them to the manager and have him/her figure it out. I think it is too late now to confirm what went wrong.

Didn't IHOP just acquire Applebees?
I guess the customer service and food wasn't bad enough, so they joined forces with a company that can't even get a pancake right.
You will get no satisfaction from this company, just chalk it up to a bad experience and go to Ruby Tuesday; they have an all-you-can-eat salad bar!

I used to work @ Applebees and all of the soups were served in small white bowls. Are you saying it as smaller than the normal, or just that your opinion was that you should've recieved a larger portion/bowl. Managers are not psychic... Next time make sure to ask for one and I'm sure they'd come right over. When I worked there a few years ago we rarely had requests for a manager to go to a table over a complaint so they were always taken very seriously, and they always have coupons on hand. I don't understand why it makes more sense to send a non-confrontational email to corporate instead of just getting the situation handled while you were there. You probably would've left feeling full, and possibly with a coupon if you felt like your visit was terrible!

Why didn't you speak to the manager?

If you have a problem with your food, you should have asked for the manager, and that would have been your opportunity to get out of paying for items that were incorrect. However, the exaggeration doesn't help: I find it difficult to believe that you were served a salad with only two leaves of lettuce.

If you ordered the pick and pair combo the salad size is smaller than a normal salad or half-sized salad. When I had that, with the french onion soup (no e-cheese LOL) was the same size it would have been had I ordered it ala carte.

If someone at Applebee's is feeling really sassy, they'll send you a few bus tickets. Free trip, right?
I'd stick to complete words (e-cheese? is that the cyber equivalent of cheese? and cear salad is just an odd abbreviation) and cut the ellipses.

Applebees has a regular bowl of French Onion soup and a Weight watchers version, which if Im not mistaken is slightly smaller. They have told me the only difference is the cheese is low fat, but I've ordered both on separate occasions and thought the same thing. Since I haven't had them actually next to each other I couldn't make a perfect comparison. I believe the regular one (non weight watchers) may come in two different sizes also.
