Received large invoice despite having full Insurance coverage.

Posted Sat May 26, 2012 5:03 pm, by Hannelore B. written to Apria Healthcare

Ever since Apria Healthcare took over Praxair, it has been very difficult to work with them, especially its Accounting Department. In the past, services and equipment were always paid in full by our two Insurance Carriers, which are listed on Apria's packing slips. Today, we received an invoice for $1,719.28 (2 x $864.64) for Date of Service on 03/23/2012 and 04/23/2012. The company demands payment in full upon receipt, although we have full insurance coverage. We had the same insurance coverage for five years. Tried to call 866-838-4762, however, no calls can be accepted due to technical problems.

We don't appreciate, being billed on 5/21/2012 for the above amount, and no indication is listed, if they even contacted the Insurance Carriers? Are they incompedent or didn't they didn't check our records? Bill the insurance carriers, as listed in our files. We are afraid they might just ruin our credit with the erroneous billings. Need an answer from Apria ASAP. Get the phone problems fixed, so customers can at least leave messages.

In addition to the comment below, did they bill you for the correct
services & equipment? I recently went through Apria to get a breast
pump which my insurance covered 80% of the cost. After it was all said
& done, Apria tried billing my insurance for $1400 worth of oxygen
equipment!

Is Apria a provider on your insurance plan? Just because they took
over a preferred provider's business does not mean they are a covered
provider. I would call the insurance company.
