Poor treatment of a loyal customer

I opened a Bank of America credit card in 2009, which I converted to a Bank of America American Express in 2011. Bank of America elected to close my account without notifying me on January 6, stating that they were uncomfortable with the amount of available credit I had with other creditors, and the new accounts that I had opened in the past year. However, I had earned 11,297 Worldpoints (approx cash value $100) on this account, which BoA now refuses to honor, since rewards points are forfeited when an account is closed. As I had no notification that this account would be closed, I was never given an opportunity to redeem my points. I have never been delinquent on this account, and generally paid the balance in full every month, so there was no reason for me to suspect that my account would be closed.

I would like to be compensated in full for my rewards points.

issued AMEX cards? I always thought they were a separate entity like
Diner's Club.

And I have to guess that you mean they closed your account without
advance warning as you state they notified you January 6th and
provided a reason why they had closed your account. They can actually
do this at any time they choose as the holder of the card, so sadly,
they don't have to pay out the perks now.

It's a pretty crappy way to deal with customers, but unfortunately,
the rules are all in their favor.

Tina,

According to their site and the Rules pertaining to Worldpoints it
would appear that they are in compliance with their
regulations,...once a card is cancelled so are the points.
