On aug 2 I gave my daughter a check written to me with a deposit slip for my checking account, since she is on the road for work she stopped at the bank on main and cayuga. She made the deposit and they refused to give her the receipt, saying they would mail it because she was not the account holder, as of the 5th I still have not received the receipt have no idea if the money is in my account. Mind you there was no cash involved, just a deposit made and a receipt should have been given. She was told this is a bank of america policy.I am not comfortable not receiving the receipt and does that mean, I must only do my own deposits
I would clearly like to know their policy, since this never happened before and I think an apology is in order for the inconvienence. I also think customer service needs to be made easily available I am using this service because I have been all over bank of americas sites looking for their email

I don't understand why they wouldn't give your daughter the receipt. I've been with BofA for over 10 years and whenever I make a deposit the receipt only shows the amount of the deposit that I just made. It never shows my balance. If I ask for my balance they have to print a seperate receipt at which time they will ask for ID. Additionally I have sent my brother in another state deposit slips for my checking account to make deposits in there to pay off a debt and when he makes these deposits they provide him with a receipt for it. Anyone should be able to make a deposit into your account and they should be given proof of it.

It may take more than 3 days for the receipt to come in the mail...
This is likely a security policy as others have stated. I also agree you should phone them.

It is a issue of security and it is common at many banks. My mom has been nice enough to make deposits for me, they will give a reciept, but not the balance, this makes sense to me...why would you want someone to have your account balance, especially since they already have your bank info. You know they are family and trusted, but the bank doesn't. Think about it...a stranger or someone non-trustworthy now has your bank info...then they have your balance, and think of what they could do with that.
If you are concerned about the deposit...simply call the bank. If there are problems with the deposit the bank can easily track what happened that day, but the sooner you do it the better. I know at BOA no reciept will be given to a non account holder, but others are different.

Come to think of it...
Mom use to make deposits and withdrawals from my BOA account. I don't remember if she had a receipt given to her or not.
However in my case I had given her a General power of attorney, and a Special POA specifically for the bank (in case they questioned the General POA)
I would recommend going online to http://www.bankofamerica.com/onlinebanking/
the transaction should be there, even if it's just pending.
if not you can always call them up

Or just drive to the local branch. There's a good handful of locations in Buffalo.

This makes me realize that there is a security issue at MY bank.
I usually make deposits by ATM. But, on occasion, I've gone in and used a teller.
I hand them the check(s) and deposit slip. They never ask for ID and anything. They then hand me back a receipt.
How do they know I'm authorized to make a deposit into the account? And, as this letter points out, get a receipt (with my full balance on it)?

I have made deposits for a friend before, and the bank would give me a receipt that showed I had made the deposit, but the receipt didn't show the new balance in her account. Your bank should have the same capability.

Stick with community banks, they are much more people friendly and often have better rates than the big boys
Good Day

It sounds like most definitely a privacy issue. It used to be, you were given a receipt, but not one that showed any balance information. They may have made the policy stricter at BoA.
I used to make regular deposits at BoA for my mom, before I got on her account, and I always received a receipt with a full account number on it.
BoA customer service totally sucks, in my opinion. That is reflected in your experience. Another poster suggested calling the bank. You have to jump through hoops just for that, since they make you call the 800 number first, and wade through ridiculous a menu system. If you are lucky, and divine all the right choices, you may actually speak with someone.
Maybe your daughter can get the telephone number while at the bank.
