Feeling betrayed by bait and switch tactic

Write a Letter to this Company
On Friday I placed a order thought the website ( order # 5332235 ) as chose to use the offered six pay plan. I understood that my card would be charged one payment and then an additional two payments would be authorized. Today, after checking my order online and seeing it still in the processing stage I call customer service and now I am told that they have to run a credit check, a credit check for something that they already have my credit card information for. My obvious objection to all this is the fact that it took me calling the company three days later to find this out and the fact that they are asking me to provide my ssn for such a small order. I would love to know how they justify who must submit to a cdit check and who doesn't when the only info that is submitted initially is a name , address and credit card number. I feel that this is nothing more than a bait and switch tactic to get customers to provide their personal information. I am extremely disappointed in Bass Pro and now consider myself a former customer. I work hard a paramedic and was really excited I would be able to purchase these things on the payment plan but I am not giving out my personal information this freely!!! I call bogus ad will be doing my future shopping elsewhere....
Stop baiting customers with the idea of a six pay plan. If you are going to require people's personal information then you should ask for it up front. People shouldn't have to wait several days to find out that suddenly this information is going to be required. I realize that the website says that a credit check may be ran....but a $700 order should not be required....I would like to utilize this payment plan to purchase items that would normally take me a few months to save for, not to mention I had purchased two of the items as fathers day gifts, which I obviously cannot do now....way to drop the ball Bass Pro...it was nice to use to do business with you....

Michael P,
Sorry to report that what you share is pretty much in line with what they have posted on their site which I have pasted below. The issue pertaining to pulling credit reports is addressed in the final paragraph as well.
