"No answer" answers. Always "Soon, soon, soon", the only answer.

I am completely at a loss of why you cannot answer any questions. I did not choose at&t yet I have the NEW at&t forced upon me and others.
Two and one half years ago we invested in an HD TV BECAUSE one of your Reps said you had HD Service. Well, that turned out to be WRONG!!!!! When calling back and told no HD at this time, I was assured HD would be coming SOON. So, how SOON is SOON?
We are at a time when we can change services and gain HD. However, MAYBE you will provide it "soon" since you are now the NEW at&t.
How SOON and how MUCH will HD costs us?
I eMailed Customer (no) Service and received that "U-Verse" will be coming "soon".
I invested a great deal of money 2.5 years ago when your rep said you had HD TV. Now, you STILL DO NOT have HD and it will be some "months" before we see it. "SOON" you say.
how SOON? how MUCH? Why can you not answer these questions? DSL speed is also supposed to be increased, but NO ONE can say when. Others providers have higher speeds and you do not. Why is the NEW at&t refusing to say when? I have talked with at&t users in other markets and they HAVE much higher DSL speeds. Why does this market refuse to 1) get higher speeds and 2) refuse to answer when it will be coming.
I am tired of hearing "soon, soon, soon" from your people.
Please answer these simple questions. I can be reached 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Hmmm, this is during your business hours, how neat, no excuse not to contact me. Or you can eMail telling me "Soon, soon, soon". Just answer how soon "soon is".

That's what I call the utmost in patience, dedication and customer loyalty if I ever saw it. Are they the only players in your area? How about Sattellite? Two years with a high def television and no high def signal must be horrible.
I think you've been "Mr Good Guy" long enough, it's time to find another company. If it's that bad now, can you imagine getting answers when it finally does come around?

They've communicated with you rather poorly this entire time, so why even give them a chance? Why not switch service? If you don't, it just reinforces the notion that unhappy customers are all bark and no bite.
I say, bite! ;)

I agree that telecommunications companies will not predict service dates in the future. Verizon did the same to me when I wanted DSL. I simply had to wait until (I determined) it was available. Why they don't isn't exactly clear, but I can see why they wouldn't want to commit to Product Q on date xx/yy/zz on street ABC in town DEF. Due to scheduling, product and technology changes, they may make a radical change to something before it ever meets the light of day. At this point, you may never get higher speed DSL - you may get the next technology. As for HD, I guess you just have to wait. Or put up an antenna - you may get it faster by picking it out of the air.
