dumb policy makes Netflix more attractive

I subscribe to the Blockbuster Online where I can return dvds to the store. In the past, I have brought back dvds in the slip but not the mailing envelope, and it was never a problem. I probably havent done this in about 4 months.
Tonight when I brought in my two movies in the slip I was told I *had* to have the mailing envelopes.
This is really stupid, because the barcode logs in the movies, and how simple would it be to have some envelopes behind the counter to mail it back in? THe staff at the Vista Store in Sparks NV apparently couldn't think this through (even just wait for another customer to bring in an envelope and put mine in there with it)
I ended up not getting anything, because I was angry. All I wanted to do after a hard week, and then almost getting hit in the parking lot, was kick back and watch some movies. I had a couple I was going to pay for but honestly I already have paid for the movies due to the monthly charge.
Give store managers envelopes to get the movies back. Why make life more difficult for your customers? Might as well just use Netflix.
I want some free rentals from this, and this month of my membership fees refunded.

I worked at a Blockbuster for a year in college, and I will tell you why they do what they do.
The reason you MUST use the envelopes is because the send-in system is seperate from their store inventory, and they don't want to be responsible for a movie that is sent in incorrectly, and quite frankly, its not a hard policy to follow.
Blockbuster will NOT give you anything for free, because they didn't do anything wrong to you! Its like saying "I want free stuff because I don't like your policy on the contract that I signed" ... don't be difficult, if you don't like the policies, go elsewhere and don't sign contracts (either by hand OR electronically) before reading them.

How does this "dumb policy" make netflix more attractive? Blockbuster gives you TWO ways to return your online movies instead of the one way that Netflix allows. You can return them through the mail or return them in the store. Returning them in the store gives you an added bonus, you get a free rental with every in-store exchange. Becuase you didnt save the envelope, now you are s.o.l.
P.S. I dont know who allowed you to return the movies without envelopes before, but they are an idiot. This has never been Blockbuster's policy.

I hate when places have policies that don't match my lifestyle or skill set.
Is it more time out of a busy day to slip a dvd into an envelope than into a slip? The process for doing both seems pretty straightforward. 1)hold dvd in favored hand, 2)hold mailing envelope or slip in the other, 3)Line up the two 4) push.

Why should the store stock envelopes if the customer (you) is provided envelopes to return the movies? This sounds like a waste of resources, with unused envelopes piling up somewhere (your house).
If you were privided envelopes, I don't see how BB owes you free rentals. Why should a month of membership be refunded? Because you became angry and left the store?
We need Keith C. to explain why this is a valid complaint. I'm not feeling the love, but I'm Not Keith C.
