Disappointed Bosch dishwasher owner.....you don't get what you pay for...:(
Posted Mon October 26, 2009 9:53 pm, by F S. written to Bosch
I'm more extremely disappointed than furious, although I might become furious real soon. Just over 2 years ago I purchased a Bosch dishwasher from the Great Indoors and a Sears maintenance plan. This machine has been nothing but a heartache. When it works, it works well....but this particular machine is a lemon. I have had it repaired 5 times in the 2 years...unheard of. :(
This washer was also under a recall for a possible fire hazard. The control panel was replaced under a recall in February. It has again, continued to run well past the cycle time trying to pump out water and I was getting a burning smell and turned the machine off.
I was a ping pong ball between Sears & Bosch each referring me back to the other. Then, on Oct 13, 2009 Bosch schedules an appointment for 'repair' by their personnel for November 10, 2009...nearly one month later. Needless to say, it is a hardship having 4 children, a busy life and no dishwasher for at least a month. I was told someone would call to see if they could do something sooner. Well, no such luck and no return phone call.
I then recall Bosch after speaking with my husband. The gal who is supposedly in 'escalated' customer service, after my expalining that I am, at this point, extremely uncomfortable about a fire hazard with this machine should it be repaired. I've had a burning smell prior to the panel replacement and now again after it's replacement. I am just not comfortable and do not trust this machine. If it were to be repaired, I would have to be in the room everytime I use it and babysit it. I expressed this to the 'escalated' CS rep and she said she'd get back to me...than was last week. I also asked if Bosch were willing to accept responsibility for my home, pets and family should this machine become a fire hazard (which it has twice already by smelling burning, not counting the times that I stopped the machine from continuously running and called service) and if they could live with that....I can't.
We certainly did not purchase a high end dishwasher to babysit. Unfortunately we purchased a Bosch lemon and they are dragging their feet. What other company would let their customer go a month without their product which is designed to use on a daily basis?
I fired off another email today which has yet to be responded to. :(
Just to note, prior to the purchase of this machine, we had a Kitchen Aid for 15+ years. It was in perfect working condition and had never had a repair call or needed servicing. We obviously know how to use a dishwasher. We only replaced this machine due to a kitchen remodel to stainless steel (the kitchen aid was white) and supposedly 'upgraded' to a higher end, more costly product and 'better' class of appliances. We are so disappointed at this point, we purchased a lemon machine and they are dragging their feet, making excuses and not taking responsibility. There is no reason why a machine would need 5 service calls in 2 years. :( There is no reason why a machine should have a burning smell (electrical & plastic/rubber) severeal times over, especially since it had been 'repaired' and 'components 'replaced'. I am truly saddened.
I would like them to take responsibility for their hazardous product and replace it. I am not comfortable using this machine should they repair it with my family, our safety and our home is at stake.
And I would like them to do it within a reasonable time. The first time it needed repair, it took over 3 weeks and it was over the Thanksgiving holiday....a disaster to say the least....especially since we purchased a supposedly high end 'superior' product.
Label me disappointed.........to say the least.

I was supposed to be contacted by the installer within 5 business days to make an appointment to change out the lemon of a dishwasher. I am further disappointed to say, after much patience and this being past the closing time of the 5th business day.....I have heard nothing....absolutely nothing. :(
I really thought Bosch was sincere in their promise to rectify of this situation and rectify this situation in a timesly manner. I thought I was dealing with a competent and responsible company....again I find myself disappointed in this lengthy and hazardous fiasco.
I have now been without a dishwasher and been in contact with Bosch since October 13, 2009 regarding this matter. I really thought that the promise of a timesly resolve last week was sincere.
Unfortunately I remain an unhappy and frustrated Bosch Dishwasher owner......
I guess I must contact them again tomorrow......:(

Well, I received a message on my phone today saying that they are going to exchange the dishwasher. Was it Planet feedback or my email of yesters and prior? Perhaps a bit of both.
Thank you PlanetBack. Now all you need is spell check. lol
I should be hearing from an installer within 5 business days to make an appointment to switch it out. Hopefully this time, we will be up and running before Thanksgiving.

I love the first line of your letter! And I agree that you don't always get what you pay for. I've had expensive appliances and cheap appliances and have had better luck (and I do think it's a matter of luck) with the cheaper ones. As someone here once said, buying appliances is a crap shoot. It doesn't matter what brand you buy or how much money you spend. You just gotta get lucky.
My refrigerator was recalled for being a fire hazard, so I know how you feel. I did have it fixed and the service was excellent, but I still smell something burning every once in a while, and it can be nerve-racking.
Under the circumstances, I think it would be in the company's best interest to just replace the dishwasher. You are already a disgruntled customer, and on top of that you are living with the risk of the washer starting a fire. If the Sears maintenance plan is still in effect, you should check into the lemon law. I had my washing machine replaced that way, but brace yourself because it took over a year and a lot of aggravation.
Let us know what happens.

Got rid of perfectly good working machine for junk?
You do know that you can replace the panels on the fronts of most diswashers to match, yes they even have the stainless steel look, even black would look fine.
I did a quick search and found one at lowes.com
http://tinyurl.com/yhj956b
Ive even seen them cheaper at other places!
Ive never understood getting rid of something that works fine, only to replace for the newest flashiest model, most of the time, the new product is inferior.
Good Day
