Capital One isn't #1, but it's pretty darn close. One of the top credit card issuers in the US, the company offers Visa and MasterCard plastic with a variety of annual percentage rates, credit limits, finance charges, and fees. Products range from platinum and gold cards for preferred customers to secured and unsecured cards for customers with poor or limited credit histories. The company, which boasts nearly 50 million customer accounts, also provides mortgage services, auto financing, credit insurance, and other consumer lending products. Immersing itself in the banking business, Capital One bought regional bank holding company North Fork Bancorporation in 2006. |

I noticed starting in August 09, my Capital One credit card went up 8% for no reason! I haven't been late on payments or anything! I haven't even used the card for about 2 years! I might as well default because us good cardholders are getting punished for no reason!
I would like my 14.15% apr back at least!

Interest Rate Increases without Cause |
|
by Cecile R. of Las Vegas, Nevada written to Capital One Financial Posted Sun September 20, 2009 4:16 pm |

In May 2009, Capital One raised my interest rate a WHOPPING 10%. When I saw this on my credit card statement I could not believe it. I called to find out why they raised it 10%; it had been one of the lowest interest rate credit cards I held. After getting transferred from India to Canada (not mentioning the Indian who was really rude because we should be talking to Americans) I was told that...

Why must we tolerate abusive behavior from this bank? |

I have had a Capital One credit card for approximately two years (I have actually paid it off and canceled the account in the last 24 hours). Last year I called and requested a credit limit increase, which was granted. At that time I asked how long I could count on having current interest rate of 14.99%. I was told that the rate was tied to the prime rate and, as long as I kept the account...

If this is true, I will give serious consideration to NO LONGER using my Capital One credit card!

Capital one was my first credit card at the age of 18. I told all my friends to get one -- now I think they should stay away. I now have other credit cards with American Express and Citibanks. Capital one hasn't raised my limit in five years, despite the fact that Amex and Citibank limits are now MUCH MUCH MUCH higher. I pay my bills on time and IN FULL. I have never had more problems with credit...
