Dear Sir or Madam:

I have been a CapitalOne customer since 2003 and during that time, I have enjoyed my experience with CapitalOne greatly. I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a "goodwill" adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies. I have a charge-off (resulting from numerous late payments) on the above referenced account that date back to 2003. Since that time I have been an exceptional customer paying every month on time.

Because of my increase in income and exceptional payment history over the last few months, I would like you to consider removing the negative payments history including the charge off (or the old account) or changing the status on this tradeline to read "Paid as Agreed" from my credit reports. At the time of the late payments, I was in the process of changing jobs and my payment protection had never kicked in when I called customer service two times to enact it. I say that not to justify why the payments were late, but rather to show that the late payments are not a good indicator of my actual credit worthiness. I hope that CapitalOne is willing to work with me on erasing this mark from my credit reports.

I have been a very happy customer in the past and hope to continue a long relationship with CapitalOne. With today's credit industry so competitive, I know how important it is to maintain good relationships with customers. CaptialOne has been exceptional in my book so far and I highly recommend it to all my friends and relatives. I hope that you will deeply consider my request and prove once again, why CapitalOne is heads above the rest. I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Nicholas

If CapitalOne did this for you, they and every other creditor would be
inundated with requests by countless other people to do the same, and
it's not fair to people who don't have similar black spots on their
credit reports.

Unfortunately I do not think that Capital One can do anything. Once
they have reported to the credit angency the information cannot be
removed unless it is proven to be incorrect. I may be wrong about
that but I think that is how it works.

I am sorry. I feel bad for you and wish you well in your future. I
think however, that you are stuck with this on your credit report for
seven years.

There are probably people here at PFB that know more about this than I
do, they will be along soon to contribute further information.
