Capitol One Is No Longer In My Wallet

I said that I would never have a Capital One Card again; I have had a bad experience with them before and had paid off and cancelled the card. Well, then they sent me some great 0% offer in the mail and after seeing all the great commercials here lately about how great they are now, I figured I would give them another try. Well, it has only taken about four months to realize that they are the same old Capital One. I think they probably make more money on fees than they do on anything else. I have to admit I did put quite a bit on my card around the Holidays, I knew I was getting close to the limit probably, but I don't call to check my balance every day. I just logged on to their site to pay my bill and noticed that they had hit me with a $29 overlimit fee for going $2.00 over my limit. Needless to say, I think this is very sorry! I plan to pay the *&^%**%$ off again, and beware to any Capital One rep that calls my home to offer me anything after I do! Anyone who is thinking of getting a Capital One card, I would advise that you get something through your local credit union or bank instead. They are usually much more customer service oriented....hey you might even get to talk to an American instead of someone in India!!
I can assure you that Capital ONE will no longer be "what's in my wallet!"

I think they should cut out all these ridiculous fees and put their customer service back in the U.S.

Wow Carissa, it sounds like everyone is in agreement after reading
your complaint letter.

Whereas you admit that it is your fault for not watching your limit
well enough, I believe you owe Capital One an apology.

Lacey,

While I spoke about disagreeing with the letter writer, I would tend
to believe his note does not mean he is racist. Dell and many other
companies (including Capital One I believe - but have no direct links)
have shifted their call centers over to India as a means to save
money. It is a very frustrating ordeal as you try to work with the
people in India as they read through their "help" sheets. This is not
to say anything bad about the fine people of India. It is just that
many of these companies are putting them in a bad spot trying to help
customers and the langauge/accent can become difficult to overcome in
some cases, especially when people are already not in the best mood
when they call for help.

You're a rascist. The reps are most likely not in India. Just
because they have an Indian accent doesn't mean they aren't American.

All credit card issuers charge these overlimit fees irrespective of
the amount of overage. If you can't manage your spending, you're not
going to have a better experience with anyone else.

Indicating you thought Cap One had changed because of their slick new
commercials does not reflect very well on you, frankly.

Alright. So, for some reason you swore off Capital One. But the 0%
offer was too tempting to pass up, so you got another one. Then you
lost track of your spending and went over the limit. And now YOU are
mad at THEM for charging you a $29 OTL fee because YOU screwed up.

I'm re-reading this and failing to see what Capital One had done
wrong.

I am also failing to understand how this is Capital One's fault. You
spent more than your credit limit. Doesn't matter how much more. Do
you really think there is someone there going "Oh Carissa is such a
nice person and she ONLY went $2.00 over her limit so we won't charge
her."

I have never had to pay an overlimit fee in the 20 years I have had a
credit card because even when I had a low credit limit, I kept track
of what was on the card. Quit blaming others for your mistakes.

I agree with the previous responder, in that you are responsible for
monitoring your limit. If you were spending that much on your card,
you should be more responsible and check your balance more often.

I have had my Capital One card for over 10 years without an issue with
customer service, interest rate or anything. If not for those
"rediculus" fees, people would abuse Credit Cards more than they
already do. Have you seen how much person credit this country has run
up??? We are in pretty bad shape on average.

Overlimit is overlimit - - be it $2.00 or $200.00 - - you were the one
who accepted Capital One's terms when you used the card - - you are
the one that didn't keep track of how much you were spending - - you
were the one that went over your credit limit - - and this is bad
customer service on their part because???
