I purchased a camera 12/20/04. Per Capital One, Purchase Guard covers the warranty of the camera until 12/20/06.
I called 1-800-MC-Assist. They tell me that I am not covered.
It is a nightmare getting through to Capital One. All their representatives are in foreign countries and they do not know what I am talking about. They think I have a dispute with a merchant.
I would like Capital One to call me at home and straighten this problem out so I can get my camera fixed.

I don't have this card, so you'll have to forgive me if I misunderstand.
I also have a card with an extended warranty benefit. Once, I had to use it. In with all the materials they send me when I got the card were instructions for filing a claim. Let me say that again: a CLAIM. As such, they were very particular about how I was filing. There was a specific form to fill out, which I had to mail to a specific address along with a copy of my receipt. There was a totally different phone number for questions about it.
Now, the folks at the card's 800 number should be able to give you the phone number of the claims people. It might be a different company or it might be a division of Capital One.
Now, it sounds like there are two problems. First, the people you're speaking to don't even know what an extended warranty benefit is. It sounds like they think you're calling in a merchant dispute. But you also say that they say you're not covered. I presume that these are different people? For example, the folks at MasterCard (NOT your bank) say you aren't covered, but the folks at your bank don't speak English.
I did a little checking and, although these things are normally supposed to be handled by the issuing bank, 1-800-MC-ASSIST is supposed to send you a claim form.
I'd suggest that you get out your card agreement and offer to read it to anyone that tells you that you aren't covered. "Why do you think I'm not covered when my agreement says..." See what they say.
Good luck.

Why did MC say that it's not covered?
