My husband and I went another couple to go see a movie on Thursday Nov.19. 2009.The big premier of New Moon. My friend and I were in line to get popcorn and a drink before our movie. When My friend and I were up at the popcorn area ordering The man asked, "what would I like"? I said, " The #1 Combo." While he was filling my popcorn and putting butter on it I asked him," Do you put salt on it or do I?, I love salt:)" The girl working beside him looked up at me and said, " YOU DO NOT NEED ANY SALT IT'S BAD FOR YOUR CHOLESTEROL." I said what??! She said," you heard me and smirked. " In front of all the people inline . I wanted to die. My friend and I are a little thicker than we should be, and it was very rude and hurtful. I was still in shock when I paid. I then met my husband and my friends husband and I told him what she had said and I started crying:( He said lets get out of here we walked out before we even watched the movie we had been dying to see! I was just so mortified. I could not even touch my popcorn and neither could my friend who is heavier than me. I am trying so hard with my weight. But this was my treat. This was very upsetting. I never want to go back. I have posted this whole experience on facebook and everyone is just shocked at what had happened!
I wouldn't know it was my first time. We are we to the area:(

I am overweight as well, and if the cholesterol comment was said to me, I would not have thought it was about weight.
unless she said something like "you don't need butter because you are big as it is" then I would have made a complaint like you did.
Actually, I would have shown her my weight watchers progress book, and the 66 pounds I have lost so far, and reminded her that I can lose the weight but she will forever be an *&^HOLE

I think it's immature to post this story on facebook -- what's the point in that?
I also think that employee should be verbally smacked upside the head. I don't pay exhorbitant prices for food and drink at the theatre only to get lectured by a little brat about my health.
Consider calming down, stopping crying, and making a complaint directly to the manager of that location.

If I felt mortified, the last thing I'd do is post the incident on Facebook or anywhere else. Personally, I would have fired back especially since her information was wrong. But I do understand not wanting to make a scene.
There will always be ignorant people. How you deal with them is what really matters. You can't let people like that get to you. Your night was ruined, but she went on her happy way.

for blood pressure, not cholesterol. I doubt I would have been as mortified as you, but by the time I was finished, I know she would have been. I try to treat everyone with respect - but if some nimrod is going to try and embarrass me in public, all bets are off.
