Vacation Disconnect

Posted Fri May 2, 2008 4:46 pm, by Darlene L. written to Charter Communications

I have been a charter communications customer for two and half years. Each summer I leave my home in anderson, sc and go to my home in upstate New York. Other years I have been able to put my services on vacation disconnect. However, this year I was told it is not available at this time. So, I either have to continue to pay for services that I will not be receiving or else pay huge disconnection and reconnection fees and return all equipment.

If I have to go to this expense and effort, I will simply no longer be a Charter Communications customer! Upper management should strongly reconsider this policy or lose good customers!

If enough vacation home owners cancel their service on their vacation
homes because of this policy, or if enough threaten that they'll do
it, perhaps the company will realize the error of its ways and be
reasonable about this situation.

to have someone break the connection and tag your account. I don't
know what is typically done in the industry, or what Charter's policy
is (it sounds like they just don't do it). It is a bit ridiculous to
expect the customer to pay whatever it is these days ($50 and more)
per month when they aren't using the service. Also, dropping and
reestablishing the service would cost a lot to the customer.

Cable companies are a bit difficult to work with, but I hope they
respond to your complaint.
