Here is a letter I sent through chases secured messaging system:
You guys raised the rate of my purchase on this account to
16.24percent. I called to get it lowered and was told
rudely no. So I closed out all 5 of my Chase accounts, and
plan to close out my checking and savings account. I have
been a great customer for 20 years. You guys get bailed
out by me and my fellow taxpayers, and this is how you
treat your good paying customers. Its a sad day. Its also
your loss. Im sure capital one will be happy. Feel free to
contact me.

Lower the interest rate back to 9.9 like its been for years

I am a Chase customer, and they just raised my credit limit and the
interest rates haven't changed. Actually, the interest rate could be
50% and I wouldn't care - I have never paid any interest.

Interest rate changes are far more likely related to something about
your credit history/useage of your account, than who bailed out whom.

The statistics on credit card banks came out yesterday - Chase is one
of the healthiest ones. I am happy to be connected with an
institution that cares about its healthy customers.

I have no idea why Chase would contact you, as you closed all your
credit accounts. Good luck with Capital One - in May of 2009 they
announced significant interest increases to 30% or more, 26.xx% +
prime. Ha!

VERY good point - you NEVER pay interest when you pay your bill in full, right away n/t by PepperElf Wed June 17, 2009 @ 10:18 AM

Rates are going up everywhere.

Second, a firm no does not equal rude.

Third, if you are dissatisfied with paying interest, do not go in to
debt and pay cash.
