Time to Fix the Problem

I have an 02 Malibu. There have been plenty of times where I have had trouble getting my car to turn over. I have looked into replacing everything from the battery to the cam switch. It turns out, just like everybody elses Malibu, I need to replace the ignition switch. I was driving on a busy street heading home from work the other day and my car just shut off on me. The power steering went out as well as the gas and powered breaks. I am not strong enough to turn my car or slam on my breaks when this happens and it could easily cost me, or anyone else with this same problem, their lives. It is a major saftey problem. On top of this I was stranded in a dark parking lot after midnight.

It's time for a recall on this part. It seems too many people are having the same problem.

especially when they're 10 years old

& there's your problem right there.

This car is TEN YEARS OLD!! Regardless of the mileage, it's still
been on the road for roughly 3600 days (give or take for days you
didn't go anywhere)! Stuff wears out. Things break! There is no
need for a recall on a TEN YEAR OLD CAR! It's time for the owner of
said car to make some necessary repairs and maintenance if they plan
on keeping the car longer.

Also, the ignition system (getting the car to turn over) and the power
system (keeping the car running are two separate issues. Are you sure
the alternator is good and the actual ignition motor is still
working?

How long should a company be required to stand behind a product?
Should the builder who built my home in 1939 be responsible for
replacing the roof and re-sealing the basement for me? By your logic,
there is no limit to the responsibility of the manufacturer.

So fix it, at some point the car becomes your responcibility. I think
after 10 years its your issue not the dealerships.

How many people have reported the problem?
