The billing nightmare with Cingular just never ends!

Judgement error in handling overdue accounts

I cancelled service after years of inaccurate billing service.

Yesterday I received a past due notice, but did not receive a final bill. I was awakened this morning by a machine generated call. Due to a very recent death in the family, I immediately responded and was connected with a VERY RUDE female from Asset Management demanding immediate payment. I explained I had received the bill yesterday and she became more condesending and abrupt insisting I had to pay immediately or I will be reported to a credit bureau. She insisted I can not pay Cingular (A LIE) and I must pay her NOW! I hung up.

A couple of hours later. I received the same phone call with a recorded message. I called and after looking at my account, I was transferred several times until I spoke with a male. I explained the same story to him stating I did not receive a bill just a past due notice and he became abrupt and as much as called me a liar and deadbeat. He, too, insisted I have to pay him and not Cingular. I hung up when he raised his voice in anger. This company should change its' name by changing the "t" in Asset to an "s"

I hung up and called Cingular and to my surprize, I was able to speak to someone who politely handled the situation and is sending me a copy of the final bill so I can review it. I quit Cingular because of many many months over the years of having to call to correct billing errors.

Cingular, Please get a different collection agency and don't be so quick to turn over customers. At least one courtesy call would be in order if a bill is overdue.

This will reflect on my attitude toward your company and you can be assured I will be very vocal within my sphere of influence.

I was incorrectly charged an early termination fee by Cingular.
Eventhough I confirmed with my Cingular sales rep twice that I was
not under a timed contract, he conveniently forgot that we had
discussed it. I never signed a contract for the service. After being a
5+ year customer,I will never use Cingular for cell service again.
Besides Verizon reception is much better. I am currently filing a
complaint with the State Attorney General and will move forward with a
Small Claims Court petition.

My mother has been having billing problems with them too. She
originally had her service through AT&T, ever since they merged with
Cingular she has been having problems. They are posting her payments
to her AT&T account which they've told her is closed. Since they are
applying the payment incorrectly they are sending her late notices. My
mother is never late on her bills! I would have canceled and gone with
another company long ago too!

Cingular keeps billing me for some stupid thing that you can only get
by accessing the internet -- the problem is...I took internet off my
service and can't access it!!!

After next year when my contract is up, I'm going back to Verizon. Not
just because of stupid stuff like this, but they had better reception.

I canceled Cingular several years ago over a number of issues but one
of them was incorrect bills. The final bill was for something like
$115. After probably a total of an hour or more on the phone with
customer service (including several promises of calls back from
supervisors that never came), I finally managed to lead them through
the errors and get it down to the correct amount (under $30), which I
then paid.

I've had horrible experiences with Cingular as well. When I called to
cancel my service when my contract ended, they offered me 2 free
phones and 2 free months of service. I said there was no way I would
ever use them again as long as I live, no matter what freebies they
offered.

I work part-time for a company that offers pre-paid phone service.
Most of our customers are former Cingular customers who say they will
NEVER go back to Cingular.

Eventually someone will wake up and realize that they're losing a
large number of customers!

I've got a friend that has Cingular service. She had some trouble with
billing yesterday. She's had the same trouble before.....I've sent her
a copy of your letter to read. You're not alone.....I'm glad you
voiced your opinion!!

I really can't believe that they so quickly turned your overdue
payment to a collection agency! Unfortunately in a situation like
this, most likely the collection agency bought the debt for a few
pennies in the hopes that you would pay them the full amount owed.
Collection agencies like this typically treat you like garbage. I
hope Cingular listens to your comments.
