Fraudulent Florida vacation

Posted Thu June 7, 2012 10:26 am, by Lynette D. written to CMN Marketing

I have been trying to resolve this issue about this fraudulent company for months now and even have a BBB complaint in Florida for it as well. On or around June 27th, 2011, I received a call saying they were a representative of my timeshare company, Wyndham, and they had an offer to go to Florida and stay a week at the resort Cocoa Key in Orlando. I was reluctant at first because the originally wanted $300. He said if I paid by electronic check he would be able to give it to me at a price of $179. I was leaving for Orlando the next week for a family vacation and thought it would be good to go back again next year. With it being the summer & doing a lot of vacationing, it had slipped my mind that I had purchased the vacation and hadn't received anything in the mail. By Sept, I checked my bank account for the transaction in late June. I find out that they haven't charged me the $179 they promised but $199. I still hadn't received anything in the mail for the so called package I purchased. I had no telephone number for this company. All I had was information on the canceled check from the bank which only had an address. I googled them and hadn't any luck getting specific information about this fraudulent company. By late Nov, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, complaint ID # 90079214. They made numerous attempts to contact them and they never responded. They were supposed to refer my case to the Florida Consumer Service Board. It dawned on me months later that they called me & my Verizon service keeps a log of calls coming in. Unfortunately, the log is only kept each month. I contacted Verizon to see if there was any other way to retrieve them & they responded no. So this is my last resort at this time.

I would like this company to refund me my money for the trip they promised me and never got and to stop the fraudulent activity that they are engaging in. Who knows how many other consumers such as myself have been taken advantage of by this company. They need to be out of business if this is what they do to make a living!

If I were you, I would not have given out my bank information without
verifying with management whether or not the person calling you was
legit.

This would have prevented your complaints.

So someone calls you out of the blue, offers you a vacation and you
give them all your bank account info?

Your lucky all they took was $199.00

No doubt. This OP is also pretty lucky that she didn't include her by Steve OH (IO) Thu June 7, 2012 @ 9:07 PM
