My Comcast Bill is Too High

Posted Wed October 22, 2008 12:00 pm, by Jason S. written to Comcast Corporation

My Comcast bill has almost doubled since my initial promotion has ended. As I see promotion after promotion offered to new customers on television for both cable and dish, it annoys me to no end that new customers get a great deal but loyal customers have to pay though the nose. At least with Dish, they offer a two-year deal where the price is set...and some even offer a price-for-life deal. I had signed up for the triple play and like the service but I will leave for a better deal because that is the environment that has been created.

I need Comcast to reduce my bill to at the least the current promotional price offered to new subscribers. I have been loyal to Comcast and I expect to be treated with a bit of loyalty and respect myself. If not, I will cancel all of my services and go with the competitor.

If your bill is to high all you have to do is cal them up and threaten
to cancel service and then they will give you another X-month
promotion. I used to pay 108 dollars for regular standard cable lpus
internet.

I called Comcast after getting the notice about them raising the
rates. I talked to the rep about Digital Economy - $29.99 per month.
The rep didn't know anything about this offering, nor does the Comcast
website provide any details about it. After that rep kept me on hold
for ever, I called back and got another rep who was gruff (argh, her
voice just grated my nerves) and she was uneducated on this package as
well. Finally, I got passed to someone named OSA - he was amazing !
And he walked me thru which channels I would actually get for signing
up for Digital Economy. Yes, I miss HGTV and TNT but my cable bill is
too high for too many channels I just don't watch.

If you call Comcast, they will offer you the latest the promotion. We
have Comcast also and when my husband finally agreed that we were
paying too much for cable & internet ($191 a month I believe, I don't
know what package it was but it included all the movie & HD channels),
he called Comcast and they switched us over to the triple play
package. We don't get most of the movie channels anymore (didn't watch
them) but we now have a landline again (which we don't use because I
keep forgetting to buy a phone). Call Comcast and ask what they have
to offer.

I was under the Triple Play promo with Comcast - cable, phone and
internet - and promo was to end at the end of this month. I called
Comcast - told them my situation and that I didn't want my bill to
skyrockect. Within minutes the rep - who was wonderful - offered me
the current promo that was going on (which was identical to what I
had). One catch - it included an additional batch of channels and was
$2.00 more per month. I was like - umm - $2.00 more or keep the
package I had and have it jump $50. per month. Easy enough - quick
call to a friendly sales rep - no threats or anger, no pulling the
"I've been a customer for xx years card" - just a phone call -
Hmmm...maybe talking directly yo Comcast might help you as well - Good
luck!

I'm in a TimeWarner area, and now that Verizon Fios is here, TW has
been making lots of deals to keep customers. Nothing like a little
competition!

Ah the days of yesteryear with no cable, no internet, or cell phones.
Now the American people feel they have to have it when they cannot
afford it.

Good Day

I recently called Comcast to inquire about packages. I found one on
their website that offered a digital pereferred package plus HBO for
$39.99. In the mail I also received a package offer for $39.99. This
one was for their digital basic package plus Showtime for $39.99.

The digital basic package offered 30 less stations than the one
oferred on the website. The mail offer also had a higher installation
price than the website offer.

You would think the installation price would be the same.

I wish the installation was not mandatory as the house is already
wired for cable. I can install the box myself.

On my way to class this morning, I heard an AT&T commercial where they
talk about how Comcast Triple Play is a ripoff (Static
Electricity/Treadmill one) and you need all the money you can get to
pay your bill because you will be broke once your introductory rate is
up. The commerical talked about how AT&T doesn't have introductory
rates, but the price is always low. Might I suggest you check into it?
I have no real idea, I'm just repeating a radio ad, but those
introductory rates seem like a scam just to reel you in then they suck
your money once you are a subscriber.

I agree! I will actually be calling Comcast this weekend to see if
they can offer me a deal of some sort. My boyfriend and I pay for
cable and internet with them and our bill is ridiculously high. And
they just sent out a notice saying they were raising prices.

I totally agree - isn't is annoying when they save the best deals for
those who have yet to prove loyalty?! Much like pharmacies who pay
for a new prescription, they are banking on the notion that you will
either be so happy - or too lazy - to leave once they get you.

When you call to cancel they might be willing to give you a break -
good luck!

Why not just call in the first place? by mikedthornton Fri October 24, 2008 @ 2:53 PM
