Deceptive Advertising

Write a Letter to this Company

As a customer of Consumer Cellular I planned on upgrading to a Smartphone that they were offering for $90. I thought that I would ask them to waive the $35 activation fee since I already had to pay it a second time when I dropped a phone in the toilet and neede a new one (which meant a new activation fee). A few days ago I received an e-mail from them saying they were no longer charging any fee to activate their phones. I thought Great! Now I can just order the phone without having to "plead my case". Well, lo and behold, when I logged on to their website the $90 phone I wanted to purchase was now $125! In fact every phone was $35 more than the week before!!! That seems a little deceptive, don't you think ?

I want them to be up front about what they did. They didn't waive the activation fee.......they just hid it by increasing the price of all their phones ....making everyone think they're so great!

the price is right there in black and white. It's kinda crummy to be
sure, but they have to recoup their money somehow. It's not like they
hid it.

At least this way they still get paid and don't have to deal with
customers "pleading their case" to get out of paying the extra $35.

It's no different than a company charging the same price and giving
less product. It's a means of cost savings. But you always have the
option of just not paying it - it's not like anyone is forcing you to
use this company.

That's not deceptive. I don't think they did anything wrong, they took
the fee and included it in the base price, making it one charge. I can
understand your frustration, but if the price of the phone is what you
pay, more people will probably be happy.
