Lack of respect

Posted Mon October 3, 2011 6:24 am, by John M. written to Continental Airlines

Write a Letter to this Company

My son booked a flight from Germany to the States for the funeral of his Grandmother, I gave him my Debit card nuber and all the information to pay for the flight , the funds were withdrawn from my account and everything was OK until he arrived at the Frankfurt Airpport to be told the funds weren't verified, hours on hold with Continental was like dealing with Peggy on the TV ads, thay are so worried they might not get their money, they don't care how much trouble they cause their customers. NEVER EVER fly Continetal.

Refund the cost of the flight and apologize to my son, who is a Medivac in the Air Force, risking his life for them and our country. Greed has a way of coming back and biting you, they need to be taught a lesson, I intend to see the media learns of this.

doesn't the Air Force have MAC flights to get the airmen home in
emergencies?

My sister is in the Navy and when our Dad had a heart attack and she
was training in Texas, the Navy and the Red Cross bent over backwards
to get her home right away.

An adult in the military should be using his own CC/debit card for
flights, he shouldn't use his mommy's. Even if mommy is going to pay
for it by giving him the money or putting it in his account. If he
doesn't have plastic, flying around the world is going to get
inconvenient.

This may not be about greed on the airlines part. Say someone got
ahold of your card number and wanted to use it - wouldn't you be glad
that someone took the time to verify that charge was legit? Esp. for
something as pricy as airline tickets.

And really, a company making sure they will be paid for services
rendered doesn't strike me as greedy anyway.

Guy shows up using a debit number without the card, and his name
doesn't match the account...

they have to check.

I am pretty sure the media won't touch it for those same reasons.

It sounds to me like they needed the actual card and not just the
number at check in. I've always been asked for the card.

I fail to see how this has anything to do with your son being in the
military. Policies apply to everyone.

Being military AND using someone else's debit cards ... together that can also trip their warnings... by PepperElf Tue October 4, 2011 @ 12:05 PM

Although I have the utmost respect for the military.. by Harleycat Wed October 5, 2011 @ 7:16 PM

John M.,

This might be less about respect and more about names not matching the
method of payment.

So he just had your debit card number? Did they need to verify the
actual card and he didn't have it?
