Attitude at Costco

Write a Letter to this Company

First of all, I called Lake Zurick pharmacy in regards to the flu shot. I talked to a
female pharmacy tech. I asked if my son could come in and get it without me present and if he could use my (Costco) card. No he cant come by himself. He cant use your american express etc. I said i will give him cash . She was not listening to what i was saying at all. She had an attitude and most surprising of all she hung up on me. I called back immediately and a male pharmacy tech answered. I asked him for the name of the female tech I just talked to.so I could report her.. He said he didnt know which one it was which is totally a lie. I asked for her name and he played dumb. While he was on the line he answered my questions and yes he could come and pay cash . Then I called management , he seemed very supportive and was going to go to pharmacy to ask what happened! This costco seems like the employees have attitude at times. I feel that employees that act like this it is usually behavior that is tolerated from administration. I give this costco a rating of 1

This isn't the first rude treatment from employees at this store and i feel that maybe administration is not addressing these issues. i will say that the manager i talked to seemed supportive. The question is did the manager talked to the employee or ignore it? I do like costco as a store and i will frequent another location I am familiar with and have never had one issue.

Costco cards are like drivers licenses. You cannot give them to others
to use. Can your son use your drivers license to drive? I don't think
so. Payment kind is irrelavent.

You didn't state his age.

Is he under 18? I ask because IIRC they cannot issue flu shots to
minors without a parent/guardian present, regardless of if it's cash
or credit.

As for the other tech "lying" - that's just an assumption. Unless you
can actually SEE them at the phones you cannot know for certain that
he knows who took your call - or that they're even IN the store. Some
companies DO channel calls to call-centers after all.

So I'm not sure where this "attitude" comes into play exactly.

I understand you are upset about the poor customer service you
received at the Costco pharmacy. However, here is what you indicated
in your complaint.

I called Lake Zurick pharmacy in regards to the flu shot. I talked to
a female pharmacy tech. I asked if my son could come in and get it
without me present and if he could use my (Costco) card. No he cant
come by himself. He cant use your american express etc. I said i will
give him cash . She was not listening to what i was saying at all...

The tech told you NO several times, yet you said you will give your
son cash to pay for the flu shot AFTER you were told NO several times.
What part of NO did you NOT get or understand?

I called back immediately and a male pharmacy tech answered. I asked
him for the name of the female tech I just talked to.so I could report
her.. He said he didnt know which one it was which is totally a lie. I
asked for her name and he played dumb...

You are making assumptions. What tangible proof do you have that
supports your claim that the male pharmacy tech lied to you and that
he played dumb? If I was that person, & someone made the same claims
you did about me, & those claims were false, I would NOT be happy.

I do not see any indication in your complaint regarding how old you
son is. I do know that if I was under 18, my mom would not have done
what you did. She would have taken me with her to the pharmacy so I
could get my flu shot.

Costco has strict member policies. I once tried to use a family
member's card and, while they allowed me to go ahead with the purchase
(in cash, which is why i presume they allowed it), i found later they
flagged my family member's account. The next time she came in, the
store manager came out and pulled her aside and informed her that only
the person whose name appeared on the card could use it. Very strange
that they "flagged" the account like that.

You do not say how old your son is but IF he is under 18 years old, as
an RN I would not be giving him anything either. Sorry if that is
inconvienient but due to the litigious nature of the American public I
am forced to do things strictly according to the law. Personally I do
not vary from this one bit, not as a favor or "just this one time" or
various other pleadings. Things have to be done correctly or they
won't be done at all, at least by me.

It is presumptuous on your part to automatically assume that the
second person you spoke with was lying to you. Do you have any
concept of how much time the techs spend on the phone? It's highly
likely that he didn't have a clue as to who you spoke with earlier.
Even if he knew the first persons name, he had no business giving that
information out over the phone to anyone. I never tell patient's my
last name, only my first. No one is entitled to know my full name and
that goes for all employees out there as well.

Heck, many grocery store sample ladies won't give minors food samples by RedheadwGlasses Tue January 15, 2013 @ 12:25 PM

We have like 5 pharmacy techs that work in our pharmacy at any given
time, and they can all be on phones at times. Maybe the 2nd tech you
talked to really didn't know who you just talked to. Why assume he was
lying and playing dumb.

Just in the two calls you made you got 2 different techs.

Many times the Pharmacy is run as a separate business and the store
manager has no authority over it. I know that is the situation at the
CVS my brother manages.
