Angry About Bad Experience with Dell

I ordered Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. After owning it for three days, it continually froze up. I contacted Tech Support who diagnosed a "defective hard drive" and promised to overnight a "new" hard drive. He promised TWICE that it would be new and not "refurbished". I received the hard drive the next day and it was marked clearly "REFURBISHED". I called to speak with a manager and refuse the refurbished hard drive since I had paid for a new computer. Dell tried to repeatedly convince me that "REFURBISHED" does not mean refurbished and it is just new and the package had been opened. I do not believe that and refuse to accept a reburbished part as the main component of a computer that I paid full price for. I was shuffled through EIGHT different people over the course of THREE HOURS in my attempt to address this.
I am angry that Dell sent me a defective product (but that happens sometimes). I am even more angry that they tried a "bait and switch" where they try to replace the new part with a refurbished part. I am angry that the two software programs (Microsoft Office and Norton Antivirus) that I purchased separately and installed are now wasted because I had to return the computer and Dell refuses to reimburse me or send me new software. I am angry that Dell's return procedures can take up to 30 days before they will credit my money back to my credit card. I am FURIOUS with the attitude of the Dell employees who treated me like dirt and insulted my intelligence, especially someone who (after I had invested THREE HOURS in getting the piece of junk authorized for a return, insulted me as "unable to understand" and hung up on me. I will NEVER purchase Dell again and I will make sure our investment portfolio unloads any Dell stock that we may own. BUYER BEWARE!!
Dell had a representative contact me today. And while he is "sorry", they still refuse to replace my software that their faulty computer wasted, they still insist on holding my money for up to 30 days, and they will continue to employ rude people with very thick Indian accents whose goal is to frustrate you sufficiently so that you will give up on their structure of frequent transfers and long waits on the phone.

you returned the computer for a full refund? Excellent! While losing the money you spent on the software, and the time and aggravation, you are SO much better off. A lot of people don't discover their error until after the return period has expired.[flame warning] Dell completely sucks, as far as I'm concerned.
Do you have CDs of the software? I know Office goes on the net and registers you, but there is no chance Microsoft will let you register it again? Did you try calling them?
Buy anything but Dell. If I had it to do over again, I would spend twice as much and get a Lenovo. Sorry to all the Dell owners out there, but I hate them with a passion. I wouldn't buy a piece of penny candy from that lousy company.
Dell got the message in my case. I swore at them and hung up when then called after a year trying to get me to buy an extended warranty. At the time I was receiving their catalogs in the mail, which I mainlined to the recycling bin. I no longer receive a single thing from them (including several coupons they promised were in the mail LOL), and I am ecstatic. Isn't it amazing how quickly a company can completely piss a person off with so little management and effort? You are SO much better off.

Wow that is deffinatly bad. I might have understood being sent a refurbished hard drive if I had had that computer for 6 months but being only 3 days I would expect new. Hell I would not have even let them send the part but to exchange the entire unit for a new one under the buyers remorse.
And being that you have sent it back depending on shiping method and when Dell recieves the unit back it should be less then 2 weeks to get credit back. But hell I know dell is really slow. When I odered a Dimension 9200 Q6600 with nothing really special on it it took over 3 weeks to be delivered and that is on a standard desktop. SAD!!!
Return policies for online orders really for anything electronical are a pain since they are checked when returned.
Get a HP have 5 in the family that are all laptops and never an issue that wasn't taken care of well.
