Dell sold me a warranty that covers nothing

In April of 2010 Dell sold me an extension of "complete care" warranty, costing over $100. In April of 2011 I was experiencing a problem with the battery not charging. I went and checked online at Dell's site and it said I had 23 days left of "complete care", however the technician and supervisor said my computer was not covered because the basic hardware warranty had run out and "complete care" would not cover anything without the basic coverage. How and/or why would they sell me a policy that covered nothing?

I feel they should repair the computer since the were happy to take my money to extend the warranty.

unfortunately companies do this all the time.
They sell you something that sounds like a warranty.

then when you try to use it you find out that it covers things that
rarely break down.

It often very difficult to find out what the warranty covers before
you buy it (sometimes even after you buy it.)

I would avoid computer warranties. They are filled with gimics.

I hope out of 5 laptops you buy in ten years only one has major
problems before 6 month to a year.

just accept that risk.

wow... that sounds terrible. I wouldn't buy the warranty in the first
place; for the same money you could probably buy a used comparable if
it did break.
