Dell Computer, new computer loaded with pop ups

I just had to return a Dell laptop computer to Best Buy in Boynton Beach, Florida. It was purchased for me as a gift. There was so many pop-ups upon trying to use this computer, that it was impossible for me to use. Best Buy wanted to charge me $65.00 to clean up a brand new computer. I should not have to pay a start up fee when purchasing a new computer. Best Buy claimed that it was a problem that you, Dell, installed on your products, not their problem. This being a $600.00 item, I felt a start up fee to remove your ads was totally unjustified. I returned the computer for a refund.

Stop loading your new computers with ads that have to be removed. Computers are expensive enough without getting stuck paying to clean up a new purchase. I am a novice and do not know how to accomplish this on my own.

Those aren't "popups"

Those are the LICENSE AGREEMENTS. Yes you HAVE to accept them if you
want to use the computer.

EVERY computer you buy will come with those.

Now there's some that you don't have to agree with.
- Dell's information gathering agreement. You can pick "cancel". It
will ask you if you really mean it and just click continue to move
on.

- the antivirus. it comes with free stuff for 6 months. you can pick
"no"

Can't remember anything else for dell, except the "Dell datasafe"
which you need to complete. seriously burn those recovery discs

$600 for a laptop? That right there tells me it's a cheap piece of
crap that I wouldn't want.

what kind of popups are you talking about?

the only "popups" i remember from dell are things like registering,
burning your recovery cds.

by the way - DO THAT ASAP. Seriously.

Click start and type in "dell" - look for "dell data safe" to show up.
Burn your disks.

SO uninstall everything that you dont need. If it doesnt have an
uninstall look online and I am sure you will find a removal procedure.

Some of the imbedded stuff can be annoying, but there is a way around
everything. Too much junk when you open IE, use firefox. Popups when
you turn the PC on? figure out what running in your startup and stop
it.
