Uncomfortable flight and rude attendant

My husband and I flew on flight 1630 on Sat, May 26th and were very unhappy with the comfort of the plane. First, the seats appeared to be a different configuration than the 757 we had flown into ATL on the 19th (flight 0553). The leg room was simply awful, my husband is 6' tall and his knees touched the back of the seat. I don't know how someone taller than that could have managed at all.

It also appeared as if the lighting did not align with the seats. Since the flight was at night, the seat lights were important and the light over my seat (37F) shone on the top of my head. There was nowhere I could put a book to read in the light. My husband switched seats with me and he had it slightly easier since he's taller and could move his book over near me to read. The flight attendant working the back of the plane was very unfriendly and unhelpful when the light problem was pointed out.

We then noticed that even though we were in the air, the vents were still not blowing cold air. The same flight attendant told us that was normal and it usually took awhile in the air before the air would cool down. I fly for business quite frequently and have NOT found that to be the case. After about 20 minutes, we were miserably hot, my husband was fanning me and by this time I felt as if I would either get sick or pass out. I pushed the call button and a different attendant, Britt, came over. When I explained how I was feeling sick from the heat, he said it was unusually warm and they had informed the pilots. He said it seemed the A/C was having issues. He brought my husband and I glasses of ice water and was very friendly and nice. The other gentleman doing the drinks with him, Brent, was also nice. I didn't catch the male attendant's name who was NOT nice, but since he's the only male attendant left, you should be able to determine that.

Britt stopped by several times to make sure I was okay and brought additional ice and water to me. He also came by when it had gotten cooler up front and told me to go stand up there for awhile. His consideration was greatly appreciated and was a marked contrast to the first attendant's lack of consideration.

All in all, the flight was miserably hot and uncomfortable. It certainly did not make me want to book Delta for future travel.

I would appreciate Delta taking passenger comfort into consideration when determining the arrangements of seats. I also believe the attendant who was both inconsiderate and incorrect should be reprimanded. Britt, on the other hand, should be commended for his attempts to make the flight more comfortable.

Delta has multiple 757 configurations. You can check out your
flight's configuration on delta.com. Easy peasy.

As pointed out below seating has ALWAYS been a problem, your not
pointing out anything that everyone doesn't already know.

As for the light, how rude of the attendant not to whip out her
toolbox and realign the light for you. It wouldn't take more than
20-30 minutes to cut a new hole and rewire the light so it would be
more convenient for you.

You mean a different plane had different seats? Consumers have been
unhappy about seating forever and they are still getting smaller.

And what exactly did you want the flight attendant to do about the
lighting? It's not called unhelpful, he really CAN'T do anything about
it.

Did EVERYONE else on the plane get ice water, frequent passes to see
if everything was ok and allowed up to the front of the plane when it
got cooler?

There were other people on the plane right?

You know, a GOOD flight attendant would go get a wrench and by Steve OH (IO) Wed May 30, 2012 @ 8:03 AM

I think someone who allegedly travels frequently for business would
realize that if these complaints were as bad as it got, you're a lucky
flier.
