I have been a loyal customer of DirecTV (while living in NH) since 2001. Unfortunately I have not had the best experience in FL (where I have been for the past year). I decided to cancel my service and move on to cable to combat the interruptions and cloudy picture (due to living in the lightening capital of the world). When the customer service rep could not get me to agree to keep the service I was passed on to a supervisor who attempted to convince me with promotion and sales pitches until finally giving up. His failed attempt led to his revealing that since I was cancelling there would be an early termination fee added to my account. I proceeded to plead with the supervisor that as a loyal customer since 2001 I felt that I had earned the right to have that fee waived and leave DirecTV for now with the option to return in the future. I was denied and told that I had to make payment, which I in turn stated would be paid but not immediately and not via direct debit to my bank account. Needless to say, the charge did indeed process (coupled along with an additional charge for non-return of equipment - which had the RMA box returned to the wrong address even after I informed the company that I had not yet received it.)
I would like DirecTV to credit my bank account for the total charge as I have provided the tracking # for the RMA on the HD DVR equipment and feel I deserve a considerable amount of loyalty in return as customer appreciation. I can not be certain if I would not like to return to DirecTV in the future but with all of this nonsense hanging in the wind no one will ever hear a good word about the company or its practices.
