Today is 16 Sept 2009 and this month, so far, I had only 9 full days TV reception. Reason: it was raining. And when it is raining, DIRECTV can not provide service. Since March I had only reception two third of each month - it was raining a lot. But I don't have to worry, DIRECTV charges the full fee each month. It is almost fall and soon there will be fog - meaning NO DIRECTV service. And in winter it snows - NO DIRECTV service. Do yourself a favor and sign up with "the other guys" - DISH NETWORK. They are half the price anyway and the shows are the same and sports are free.
Provide the service that is paid for!

Yup, pretty much why my parents switched to Cox. Light rain, light wind, thunderstorms will make DirecTV go out. It is horrible! I'd be watching my favorite show and when it started to just barely rain, I'd be like "oh crap. DON'T GO OUT! PLEASE, DON'T GO OUT!"

Funny, I have all kinds of problems with Dish network. Now we have Direct TV and Nothing. No problems at all. I live in Oregon where is rains. A lot. The only time we had any problems was when it snowed a lot and the dish was covered in snow. We went out, took a broom, knocked the snow off and everything was fine. It even worked with an INCH of ICE all over the dish. If there is wind with your rain, see if tree branches are blowing so that they are blocking the signal. You might need them to come out and move the dish a little.
I happen to really LIKE Direct TV. Their menus are better and I really like the Autotune (I do NOT have a DVR). Have you had them out to LOOK at the dish? I may just need a simple move to the side by an inch or two.

This is true of any digital/satellite television reception. Dish Network will have the same problems.
