A wonderful phone experience

I called Discover card customer service yesterday to check on some aspects of my account and to make some updates to my personal information. The computer voice gave clear easy to follow options. As soon as I had a chance to request a live person I did since I had multiple questions.

A live person answered the phone in about 2 seconds after I selected the option. She was friendly and nice to listen to. She greated me by name and asked what she could do to help. I mentioned that I had been trying to get my husband listed as an authorized user on my account, she was able to add him right then, and even thought to check if my name had changed from what they have on their records (it had). So she changed that as well. She immediately asked if I wanted new cards sent out (which I did) and then asked what immage we wanted on each of the cards (so we could easily tell them apart). She worked with me to get things settled to my satisfaction.

After that, and without prompting from me, she checked my payment history and interest rate and noticed that I was elligable for a decrease in my rate so put that through as well. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to write down her name so that I could send a specific compliment to her. All in all the call lasted only 7 minutes (including the computerized triage system).

It sounds like the customer service rep "did her job."

Most CR reps do an awful job and, when one does their job well, it
makes a great impression. If you'd like to commend her, you can call
them and ask for more information about her since they should have a
record of the person who made the changes to the account, and you can
ask for a manager to compliment her.
