Dish Network is Misleading and Dishonest!

I made an online payment for approximately $115 on 1/2/09 via the Dish Network website. Upon checking my bank account on the morning of the 5th, I found that Dish Network had removed over $600! I immediately called customer service, and spent more than a half hour on the phone with two different people. Ultimately, the offered me a credit on my statement. I declined and asked for an immediate reversal back into my bank account. I was informed that this took 7-10 days, but would happen. I had to contact several people to whom I had written checks and let them know to hold them since my account was so low.

After the 10 day period and the credit was still not replaced into my account, I called DishNetwork and found out that they had "refused my credit" in the credit processing department because I had failed to return a receiver. (Note, this was the third failed received I've had in a years time and not mentioned in the first phone call two weeks prior).

I immediately returned said receiver and asked for my credit to be processed again. They assured me that it would, and I would be mailed a paper check (less the most recent bill which is not even due yet!!!)

I asked about what Dish Network intended to do about the numeruous bank charges I've incurred as a result of this mistake and the CSR that I spoke to, told me that Dish Network has the authority to charge the account on file at any time, and they are not responsible for any overdraft charges that occur, despite the fact that I did not authorize a debit of that size.

After ten plus years as a Dish Network Customer, I am appalled at how they treat a loyal customer and how they can just push through a debit at any time.

I would like Dish Network to immediately address the policy of how they can withdraw funds from my bank account in excess of what I authorized.

I would like them to look at the notes of the various supervisors over the past weeks and explain why I was given two very different answers as to how/why/when a credit would be issued.

Lastly, and most importantly, I would like someone to address the fifteen, yes fifteen NSF fees I have been charged to date by this nightmare. Once I was promised a credit by the first supervisor, I stupidly believed him, rescheduled several payments, and then had them bounce again when Dish Network failed to issue the credit they promised me on 1/5/09.

Hey Rowdy,
Definitely was not a type-o on my part. Dish informed me during my
last communication with them that they can take money whenever there
is a past due balance (which was due to their faulty equipment) being
charged to my account. Rather than call me, or issue a reminder they
simply pulled what they wanted rather than what I authorized (which
was for monthly charges only).
I am concerned about people knowing that their policy allows them to
basically pull what they want. What is the purpose of an online bill
pay service, when they can just put in an arbitrary amount?

I agree and think they should do what you're asking them.

This whole mess was created by you, the typo, the nsf charges. What
responsibility are you going to bear other than not having your money
back for a period of time.

Perhaps you need to set up to an autowithdrawl system, that is what I
use. Online banking still has the ability for you to make a mistake
typing in your numbers.

I know you are upset about getting your money back in a period of
time.

I read yesterday that the state of california is holding peoples tax
returns for a period of time so they can use your money, you'll get it
back when they are ready!!!

Good Day

How is it her fault? by Kitty_Cat Thu January 29, 2009 @ 10:52 AM

you are paying? If you got an electronic confirmation showing the
payment was for $115, you could try printing it and taking it to your
bank. I wouldn't trust them to mail a check after they tried to offer
a credit on your account, promised a credit to your bank but reneged
on that because of a possibly defect receiver, then said they would
credit you minus the current bill. Of course, these things would make
me leery enough that I wouldn't reschedule other payments from my bank
account if I needed those funds, either. I would have waited until I
knew the credit was made, so I guess those last bounced payments are
on you.

I would look into disputing the charge with your bank and then
returning their paper check when you receive it.
