Great Buying Experience

Posted Wed June 6, 2012 9:33 pm, by Michelle P. written to Doland Jewelers

In November of 2011 my boyfriend proposed to me with a beautiful ring from Kay Jewelers. I said yes, and from that point on, I could hardly take my eyes off the ring! A promotion at the time gave us nearly $1,000 in “Kay’s dollars” that we were looking forward to spending on our wedding bands. Everything seemed to be just perfect; we just had to wait for the time frame that we could spend our Kay’s dollars. Upon closer inspection, however, I found that the Kay’s dollars could only account for up to 30% of the total purchase price of our next purchase. We weren’t going to spend $3,000 on wedding bands! We thought that was downright sneaky, so we started looking for an engagement ring elsewhere.

Our next door neighbors got all their engagement and wedding jewelry from you, and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about the service and promotions. The ability to wear jewelry from the store at no charge on our wedding day really caught our attention. The thing that really sold us, though, was the 20% off the wedding bands. It wasn’t just that you gave us 20% off; the fact that there was no time frame, no expiration date and no hidden rules made us trust and respect your establishment. The service we received, and continue to receive, is exceptional. We now choose Doland every time.

I don't see what it sneaky about it? They didn't have to offer you
any "Kay's Dollars" at all, and it's not their fault you didn't do the
closer inspection until later.

"Upon closer inspection" = you read the fine print.

That is NOT the same as "hidden rules."
