Dollar Rent-A-Car Insurance Cost Fraud

Posted Tue May 14, 2002, by ESF written to Dollar Rent A Car Systems, Inc.

Write a Letter to this Company

I'm writing with a complaint about the billing or payment at Dollar Rent A Car Systems, Inc., and I hope someone will take this seriously.

I recently rented an SUV from Dollar Rent A Car Systems, Inc.. I rented a car from Dollar in January 2002. Unbeknownst to me, an $18.99/day LDW1 charge (who knew what that meant) was added, totaling $113.94. Apparently LDW1 is an insurance charge, although I had declined ALL insurance coverage clearly, and repeatedly.
Do you know how furious I am?

Here's what I'd like to see happen: Refund me the $113.94 at the least. Preferably, give me two days free rental for the aggravation and THREE letters I have sent to address this problem..

I'll definitely never rent from you again, and you can be sure I'll steer my friends away from your company.

Please get back to me quickly about this issue. I hope to hear from you within 10 business days.

Same thing happened to me at Denver International Airport. I verbably
declined addtional insurance as I am already covered by my company and
addtionally covered by American Express Gold Card. Why would I want to
pay for it a third time? By Dollar Rent a Car's employee physically
indicating to me where to sign, he knowingly and wantonly intended to
defraud me. A consumer has a reasonable expectation that when they
enter a Dollar Rent a Car to do business, that Dollar Rent a Car will
act in 'Good Faith" and deal honestly with the customer. It is clear
and evident that Dollar Rent a Car engages in deceptive business
practices.
