No response from Seller

Hi: I recently bid (first time bidder) on an item an eBay. I did not win even though I was the high bidder since the seller had a reserve price that was not met.

A couple of days later, I received a second chance offer for the same item at the price that I had put when the auction ended. I promptly accepted this and made the payment via PayPal.

The problem is that I just can't get a response from the seller. All my emails and phone messages have had no response. I even complained to eBay and they have sent me this laundry list of things that I can do all of which are of really no use.

Question: Considering the fact that 8 days have now passed since I made the payment and I have not received a response from my seller, what should be a good next step? Also, is there any chance that I can get my money back or have I just lost it?

Can some expert eBayer out here help me with this?

Do what Leeann said and check with Paypal immediately!! There is some
scam going on at ebay in regards to second chance offers. I hope that
you did not get taken!! PLEASE PLEASE check your paypal account
because now a scam artist may have your financial information.

8 days really isnt a long time. You pay, they ship. There isn't alot
of phone calls, e-mails, communication, for most transactions. Also, I
don't always trust Ebays e-mail system. Many times, e-mails from my
buyers end up in my spam box.....
Dont worry about receiving a response from the seller just yet, just
keep an eye out for your item in the mail. You have 60 days to open a
dispute for not receiving your item. You are a while from that yet.

You said you promptly accepted this offer. How did you receive the
offer? Was it sent to you through email or did you notice a new
auction from the same seller? If you got another offer through email,
then you were targetted and scammed. If you paypalled it through email
then you need to contact paypal IMMEDIATELY and change your password
information. Someone may have been phishing for your information.

If however, you accepted this offer by a winning bid on ebay that
would be handled as starlight suggested below.

Wow, what a pain in the neck. I wish you luck witht this.

I like your letter. It's very well written.

By the way, what kind of rating did the seller have? I buy from ebay
once in awhile but never from anyone below 99%.
