Refusal to remove incorrect feedback

I've been an ebay user for almost 10 years now. I've literally done everything on ebay and have referred several people to ebay over the years. I've bought and sold cars on ebay and convinced 4 or 5 friends to do the same. I even own ebay stock. My feedback is at 99% thanks to 1 person who accidentally left me a feedback in error. It was "Swaraj Always." We tried to get the feedback removed but it was too long ago and at the time, ebay didn't have the mutual feedback removal process. I've emailed ebay only to be told it can't be done unless Swaraj fills out the auto form. I finally got a hold of him and when he tried, it told him it couldn't proceed because the auction was too old. Now he won't cooperate and hasn't even logged into ebay in a while. I've emailed Customer Service several times only to be told to use the automated form that won't work. If you look on Swaraj's feedback where I left him one, he even says he tried to contact ebay and they won't remove it. This is rediculous and it's hurting my sales and blemishing my perfect record.

PLEASE REMOVE THE INCORRECT FEEDBACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE???!?!?!!? - thanks

ebay is tough that way. I had one negative once, where the seller had
already given a positive after payment and shipping the item and
somehow the computer allowed her to leave a negative too. She had
forgotten she sent a sleeper to me and then a month later went in to
post a negative for nonpayment which was incorrect. When I saw the
negative, I emailed her that I even have the auction item in question.
We both had difficulty trying to get ebay to fix the problem. However,
it was a duplicate feedback which shouldn't have been able to go
through the system but did. After many letters and proof of this, they
removed it from me.

It's not easy and good luck.

Like the others said, in the end one neg isn't so bad.

And my feedback is also perfect except one seller. The person sent me
something packaged very well, but the item had unadvertised damage. I
knew from examing the seller's feedback that they *always* left
*negative* feedback if a buyer left *neutral* feedback for a situation
such as mine. I found this unethical, and troubled over a course to
take.

I thought about it for an hour or two (after the seller insisted via
email the item was undamaged and it must have happened in shipping)
and decided to move forward. Instead of the neutral I would have
otherwise left, I went all the way to negative. I did this to "take
it on the chin" for all the people the seller had scre#ed over the
years. Of course I got the expected negative, and a very indignant
comment. Happily, after a few others did the same, the seller
cancelled their ebay account. But I digress.

My point is that I took a negative onto a perfect record on purpose,
confident that 99.3% positive feedback is just as good as 100%
feedback. The reason it is, is that there are all the verbal comments
for people to see when they look at your feedback. In my case, next
to the negative there was the indignant comment from the seller
followed by my response. Coupled with all my other feedback, buyers
can assess my trustworthiness. I have since sold many items at their
full value, and I am very proud of my feedback.

Move on.

I have to agree with the others. One bad feedback should not hurt
your sales at all. My husband has purchased a lot of things on e-bay
from sellers that had more than one bad feedback and never had a
problem.

It does seem unfair that a mistake like this cannot be corrected. But
I cannot believe that you've had any problems. If you're used eBay as
much as you say, you must have 100 or more positive comments. A
single bad one will not matter. Plus, it sounds like it was a while
ago.

Let it go. If someone refuses to deal with you because you don't have
100%, then you don't want to deal with them. Can you imagine how
critical this person would be?

By the way, you have NOT "literally done everything on ebay." That is
a complete falsehood, since you do not sleep on eBay, cook on eBay,
eliminate your wastes on eBay, and so forth. I'd even speculate that
you haven't even done all of your shopping on eBay.

Since you seen so focussed on a tiny thing like one bad feedback, a
long time ago, then surely you're someone that would appreciate that
you claim of "literally done everything" is out-and-out wrong.

You know, if you have been an eBay user for almost 10 years now, and
have only the one negative that was left in error, how is that hurting
your sales? You said yourself that the user says he tried to contact
eBay, and that didn't work. So, you dogged the poor guy so badly that
he won't even USE eBay anymore, and yet you are still trying to get
that one thing removed! May as well just accept it, since it's so old.
Most people don't go back that far looking at feedback, I know I
don't, especially if they have quite a good rating within say the last
6 months or longer.

Methinks it may not be your 99% positive feedback rating that's
driving customers away.
