Please stop gouging customers for breadsticks

Posted Wed March 4, 2009 9:15 pm, by Nate E. written to Fazoli's Italian Restaurant

I am writing in regards to the price of your breadsticks which are free for dine in (all you can eat) and $0.79 for two when going through the drive thru or purchasing take-out. I think that the policy of charging for what is free in the restaurant when doing take out is ridiculous. While I do not believe you should permit customers to get all they can eat for carry out, a reasonable number should be given for free with such a purchase(ex. 2 w/ meal purchase etc.). Without a doubt breadstick are Fazoli's "Signature" item, and charging such an exorbitant amount is ridiculous.

My suggestion to to lower the price for take-out, or offer one to two for free with a carry out meal purchase. $0.40 ea. is price gouging in my opinion.

While I understand their reasoning for offering them free to dine-in
customers, I see nothing wrong with suggesting they offer a couple
free with take-out as well. Bertucci's gives unlimited rolls for
dine-in, but they always throw 2 or 3 in the bag when I get take-out.

Good letter.

(and you know the profit margin there, especially soft drinks) and can
get hit with add-ons. It's understandable that they "reward" dine-in
customers.

The difficult part is determining what would be a fair amount for
being free. I think by charging what they do for them, people will
only purchase what they themselves will eat.

I think the price is fair.

Good Day
