Floam's Customer Service to the Sticky Mess Rescue!

Posted Wed April 25, 2007 12:00 pm, by Maranda B. written to Floam

About two weeks ago, I took my daughter to our local Wal-mart so that she could spend $5 she had received from the Easter Bunny. She's been interested in trying Floam ever since she saw the commercials for the first time. I've always felt that it was a little over priced, so I've never bought it for her myself. We happened upon the clearance aisle this time though, where there was a kit for $5. The kit included two of your small tubs of Floam, plus styrofoam pieces and body parts for creating bugs or various creatures. She was thrilled and couldn't wait to try it. So it was extremely disappointing to her when we opened up the Floam that night and it stuck to everything!

I emailed customer service through your website and let them in on the details of this transaction. I didn't hear from a customer service rep for about a week, and was about to chalk the whole thing up as a lesson learned. On April 19th however, I received a response from customer service rep Alison. She stated that my daughter must have received a bad batch of Floam. She further went on to explain that if I would just email her back my address, she would either send my daughter replacement Floam, or she would send us $5 to cover the cost of the kit we had purchased originally. My daughter decided that she would like to give Floam another try, so she requested replacement Floam.

Boy am I glad she did! The replacement Floam arrived today and it was so much fun to play with. Both my daughter and I had fun creating creatures. She's so glad that she gave you a second chance rather than requesting her money back.

In this day and age it's difficult to find companies who are willing to stand behind their products. It was wonderful to see that your company is one of the few. After this experience I will certainly purchase your products in the future!

I've got to say, that stuff looks awesome from the commercial.

You're right, it's hard to find a company who actually cares about
their customers, and the people who make Floam would not be my first
suspects for the crime. It's wondeful to hear that they fixed your
problem so wonderfully.

I'll put in the good word to the people who run the kid's programs at
the hospital I volunteer with. You probably know how hard it is to get
Play-Doh out of stuff!

My daughter LOVES this stuff. She makes Christmas ornaments, teddy
bears and a lot of neat things. It's rather an interesting product.

Okay, at the risk of sounding dumb... What the heck is Floam?...
hahaha

Is it like Slime or Silly Putty or Play Doh?

I need grandkids before I get out of practice.

Yeah, it's like the non-stick slime together with styrofoam balls. by Casmly Fri April 27, 2007 @ 7:21 AM

What an excellent letter! How can we, as consumers, expect companies
to do better if we don't let them know when their efforts actually are
appreciated. I'm happy for you and your child... I might try Floam
myself!!!

Excellent Letter!!

That is so cool - I was expecting a bad outcome!

Maybe there was a reason the first batch was on clearance - did the
company mention if there is any kind of restriction on how it needs to
be stored or how long its good for?

But clearance item or not, I am pleasantly surprised that they stood
behind their product!

Actually, that's the first question I asked the customer service rep. by Casmly Fri April 27, 2007 @ 7:18 AM

Great letter with a point I've tried to make in the past . . .contact
the company first and if you don't get satisfaction, then post it on
PlanetFeeback . . .I recently had positive dealings with ViewSonic and
that's exactly what I did.

It's great to see someone here not write a letter saying how traumatic
this was for her daugher and demanding free Floam for life.
