Very unhappy with the treatment I received for Service on my car.

Ford issued a service bulletin on a car that I has purchased 3 weeks ago. I set the appointment and confirmed that it would be completed that day. I was told that the repair normally takes a couple hours depending on how far they have to go into the exhaust. I dropped my car off on Friday at 2:45pm for the Saturday appt. At 1:30pm I stopped by the dealership only to learn that my car had not even been looked at and they told me they overbooked and didn't know if they would even get to it. They seemed to have little concern that I made the arrangements ahead of time, and confirmed with them that the repair would be complete on Saturday. I didn't just drop the car off and expect it to be done without warning of my leaving it there. I told my husband what I was told and he literally had to go in and tell them what they needed to do. He was a service advisor in former jobs and would have never treated a customer the way I was treated. My car was then looked at and I got a call not 2 hours later that it was finished. Why did he have to go in, and why couldn't they have done that for me?

I would like Ford Motor Company to actually listen to the concerns of the consumers who purchase their vehicles. This is the first newer Ford I have ever bought, and I don't want to have regrets because their service people don't follow through. Unfortunately I have heard that Ford treats most of their women customers in this fashion and I don't feel that my husband should have to take my car in so we can be assured the service required will be completed.

I would just like to be treated with a little more respect than I received on my first service visit to a Ford Dealership.

Um, no, that's not at ALL true.

All but one of my cars have been Fords and I can tell you from
experience, it's not a sex thing, its an attitude thing. The Service
Staff at my local dealership KNOWS ME on sight because if something
with my truck isnt right, they're going to hear about it.

I also think a lot of the problem stems with the variance in customer
service within the same dealership. There are 6 dealerships within 30
miles of me. I deal only with the 2 furthest out because the others
have failed to impress me.

I have bought my last 4 Fords from a dealership that is a 45 drive for
me, but their sales staff is top notch. Their service blows, though.
Dishonest, overpriced and limited availability.

The service at the other one can't be beat - they're open nightly till
Midnight and they have loaners and courtesy transport. But their
sales staff is smarmy and not very trustworthy.

If you find one Ford doesnt suit your needs, look for another one.
They aren't all cookie cutter, so if you like your car, you can find
the support you need by doing some digging.

I agree with Harleycat. I have had wonderful experiences taking my
Ford in for service. If you have a complaint with the treatment you
receive at a specific dealership, it is an issue to resolve with that
dealership. There's a Ford dealership in my town, that I wouldn't go
to, if my truck blew up in their parking lot.

My Mom's also had great treatment from another Ford dealership in the
area. All the negative experiences stem from that one dealership. I
know that's not a general Ford problem, since the other dealerships in
the area treat us wonderfully.

"Ford treats most of their women customers in this fashion"
Care to back that statement up? We have 6 Fords and I have never been
treated poorly by any dealership I've taken them to. That includes
Sales, Parts and Service. I took my 2003 Escape to the dealership
Saturday (alone) to have a recall taken care of and was treated just
fine.

Same dealership? by Harleycat Tue February 26, 2008 @ 2:10 PM

I think he had to go in because he was in the industry once and knew
exactly how to light a fire under their heels. Had it not been for
that, they would have continuted to put you off, and you're right,
it's absolutely uncalled for.

I don't know if the sexism issue really does exist across the board,
it could be an isolated incident, but it does exist and doesn't excuse
them in any way.

I hope they respond favorably and change accordingly. I'd send a copy
directly to the dealership as well.

Good Luck
