Takeout, was horrible!

Write a Letter to this Company

Pancakes, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls were hard. My eggs were overcooked. Hash browns had a burnt flavor. I do not believe my sausage patty was cooked thoroughly. My waffles were undercooked, even though they took about ten minutes per waffle. My bacon was half cooked, half raw, but still was the only thing that was good.

I was so disappointed with the fact that I had purchased four takeouts, and only the bacon from two of them, were edible.

I am a frequent customer, and assumed I would be treated with respect. I explained the situation to Jesus the manager who took my call. He said he would talk to his manager to rectify the situation. That was not the case. Jeff answered, I proceeded to explain my dissatisfaction, and was told by Jeff that it was not his problem I didn’t pick items that were good. He said he was not liable for the items I picked, and that if it didn’t look good I shouldn’t have got it. He also said that his food is of high quality, but also a buffet and that when I go home it will get cold and taste different. He repeated; if something doesn’t look good don’t get it. He said Golden Corral is not like a Church's Chicken or other fast food location. Then Jeff said he was watching me at the buffet line for about 15 to 20 minutes, He had apparently seen what I was getting, and again repeated, "If it didn’t look good then why did you get it?" Jeff asked what I would like him to do about it. I said I would like to have it replaced. Jeff chuckled and said no he would not do that, and basically commented that it was my fault. I did explain to Jeff that all the items looked really good, but were not. Jeff then hung up on me. When I called back I was left on hold for a while. So I decided to discontinue the call, because obviously Jeff's unprofessionalism did not allow him to do his job in customer satisfaction.

I deserve an apology, and at least a replacement to go along with that. My entire family (13 members) and I are frequent customers. We also took takeout on Friday and had no problems. We have taken takeout in the past both breakfast and dinner and had no problems. Had Jeff been a respectful Gentleman, I could have told him that. He barely let me say a word. I felt like I was being scolded, belittled. I’m a respectful paralegal, with a teaching degree.
Not that it should matter, but why was I being watched? It's not like he said, I saw you. No, he said I was watching you. Perhaps I was being discriminated against? My race? My weight? The fact that I'm young, and had two teenagers with me? Although I had just crawled out of my bed I was properly groomed. I had the proper attire, and so did my daughter and niece. As always I make sure of that. I don’t believe neither I nor my family, once I tell them of this will ever be comfortable at Golden Corral again. I always felt somewhat at home, comfortable at your establishment. That is no longer the case

Actually, I side with Jeff on this one. It sounds as if he could have
been more subtle, but in the end he's right, you CHOSE the food you
took from the buffet. If the eggs were overcooked, the bacon raw, the
pancakes and pastries hard, it should have been noticeable when you
selected the items from the bar. You have to reach in with the tongs
and grab the food out for yourself so it isn't as if someone snuck
unedible food into your takeout container. I wouldn't have chosen to
do take-out breakfast at an all you can eat place anyway, but if I had
and the food had been as you stated, I would have asked for a refund
right then and there and taken my money elsewhere.

I'm guessing that a place like this has an awful time with people
claiming things are wrong with the food in order to gain free meals.
I hate to say it but I know in S. Florida, certain restaurants with a
reputation of catering to the older "fixed income" individuals had a
terrible time with that this. People wanted to negotiate the price of
their meal or claim there was something wrong with when there wasn't
just to get free food. It may explain Jeff's impatience when it came
to dealing with you and the accusations that the food was improperly
prepared. Not that it makes it right.

I was not aware of this.

I mean sure the local Shoneys lets you have a take-home box (we took
some bacon and sausage for the dog for a treat) but I wasn't aware
that other all-you-can-eat establishments did take-out food.

Although to be honest... I'm not really surprised either. The local
buffet (not GC) is really kinda crappy of late.

As for them "watching" you... it may be less than what you think it
is.

1) You already said you were a regular.
2) You were using take-away packaging vs regular pates.

both are things that catch the eye. so it may not be that they were
"watching you" as if you were a criminal but that they saw and noticed
you.

Golden Corral being good. I have been there twice (different
locations), and it reminded me of the feeding trough at a farm. Of
course, that applies to most buffets. The food sits out for periods
of time under heat lamps. It makes sense that it wouldn't travel well
after that. But didn't you notice that the baked goods were hard when
you picked them up (even with thongs)? Or that the eggs were harder
than they should have been? Again, not defending Jeff, but he sort of
has a point about his crappy product.
