bad cut

Posted Tue June 1, 2010 6:17 pm, by valerie r. written to Great Clips for Hair

Write a Letter to this Company

When I sat down I thought the woman was going to look at my thick curly hair, then offer to wash it or wet it. When she picked up the scissors I asked, "aren't you going to wet it down?" I was horrified when she kept going, only misted my hair with a spraybottle a couple of times and ignored me. When she finished cutting my hair I showed her it was obviously uneven. She said that's the best she could do. The other stylist there looked at me and quietly said she wouldn't have done it that way. I emailed Great Clips a few days later and got an email saying they are a franchise and there's nothing they can do.

Take responsibility, have some accountability! At the very least I should have been given a free haircut. I had to pay there and go elsewhere to get it straightened out.

I probably would've complained right then too. I think it's crazy that
the company didn't take responsibility. Those "franchises" are
representing their name. After all, it's not called OK Cuts.

I would hope the franchise owner would be willing to help you out. If
not, there are plenty of reviews you could write online, just to warn
others.

Thank you,

Sorry, but you get what you pay for. When you were horrified is when
you should of stood up and left before the scissors touched your (I'm
sure) lovely curly hair. Take heart it will grow in and you won't go
there again. P.S. I would love some curl and put the hot rollers in
everyday and two hours later... flat as a pancake! We are never happy
with our hair. All the best.

I had a lady do that to me at Great Clips too. She said something
about this being the way they are trained to save time on each
customer. My hair also looked horrible when she was through. I
couldn't believe how uneven it was. I don't care it you pay $14 or
$50 you should still be able to expect a decent cut for the price
offered.

My local Great Clips charges $14, you cannot expect much for that
price. You get what you pay for. I know that they do guarantee your
satisfaction, so talk to the manager for a refund.

Why on earth would you go to a crap hole like Great Clips when you
have difficult-to-cut/manage hair? Having thick curly hair means you
should go to a reputable salon.

You could always cut your own hair, save a few bucks.

Good Day

While it would be typical for the stylist to ask if you want your hair
washed or dampened, I wouldn't find it "horrifying" that they didn't
ask or "only" used a spray bottle.

They use a spray bottle when they do my hair. It sounds like you have
an unusual head of hair.

If this place is a franchise, is it possible you could speak with
management to get a free cut?

If this happened to *me*, I would probably keep looking for a new hair
stylist, in a different store. I wouldn't want to have to run into
Edwina Scissorhands again.

With your thick, curly hair, you should find a stylist who knows how
to handle it. You have special hair; pay the price for a great cut.

You might find that a locally-owned salon has surprisingly low rates.
Maybe not as low as Great Clips or Super Cuts or Cost Cutters, but
probably only a few dollars more.

You don't want a "free haircut" if it's from the stylist who did a
horrible job.
