Defect in HP Photosmart Premium C309a Printer/Fax

There is a serious flaw in the HP Photosmart Premium C309a Multifunction Printer. The printer NEVER indicates when it is OUT of ink. It only tells me when the ink is low -- and I can continue to print for several weeks on "low" ink. This is a terrible disservice to your customers.

Ink is the most expensive part of owning a printer. Most of your customers can't afford to change any of the 5 ink cartridges prematurely, so instead we must keep printing on low ink until the printout makes it obvious that one or more "low" cartridges are out of ink. And then we have to guess which one or ones need to be changed.

This is no way for a company like HP to treat its customers. It does not gain you customer loyalty.

Please correct this defect in future models - and please send me a new multifunction printer/fax that does not have this defect.

Your printer is not defective or flawed. It merely lacks a feature you
would like to have. My HP printer lets me know when the ink is low and
I keep printing until it no longer prints. Between that time, I
purchase a replacement cartridge to have on hand for when it actually
runs out of ink. I have owned printers in the past that didn't warn
you when the ink was getting low. The only way you found out was when
it stopped printing.

J.F.,

Considering that it does give you a message when it is starting to get
low in ink I see the printer you own as more lacking a feature then
having a defect.

I have an HP too. It not only tells me when ink is low but on command
it will do a diagnostic with print out telling me how much ink remains
and how many copies have been printed since the last ink
installation.

Stop back if you hear back.
